Located in Harvey, Louisiana, the school caters to a diverse student body from the Westbank of Jefferson Parish, consisting of 59% Black/African American, 24% White, 15% Hispanic, and 2% Asian students, with 87% qualifying as economically disadvantaged.Remarkable achievements for Jefferson RISE Charter School include:State recognized our school as Top Gains Badge Recipient (23-24 SY)Graduation Rate A (22-23 SY, 23-24 SY)Strength of Diploma A (23-24 SY)Progress Rating A (23-24 SY)#6 for SPS Growth in Louisiana (22-23 SY)Achieved a School Performance Score (SPS) increase of over 17 points, resulting in a B rating for the high school and a C rating for the middle school (22-23 SY)Position OverviewAt Jefferson RISE, we are seeking a student-centered and equity-driven English Language (EL) Interventionist to support multilingual learners in achieving academic success across content areas. The ideal candidate will be skilled at identifying and addressing language development needs, collaborating with teachers to scaffold instruction, and empowering students to grow in both confidence and content mastery.The EL Interventionist will play a critical role in ensuring our multilingual learners have access to rigorous, standards-aligned instruction while receiving targeted language support. This is a hands-on, collaborative position ideal for educators who believe language is a key lever for academic opportunity and are committed to making student thinking and voice visible.Key ResponsibilitiesInstructional Support & Student ServicesSupport students at varying levels of proficiencyScaffold academic language within core content to ensure access to grade-level standardsDesign and implement language-rich interventions that prioritize oral language development, academic vocabulary, and reading comprehensionMonitor progress and adjust instruction based on student performance data, classroom observations, and formative assessmentsCollaboration & CoachingPartner with general education and special education teachers to co-plan and differentiate instruction for English learnersSupport teachers in making student thinking visible through structured talk, sentence frames, and written expression strategiesProvide guidance on integrating language objectives into daily instruction and assessmentsShare best practices for culturally responsive teaching and language acquisition strategiesData & ComplianceConduct ongoing assessments of English language proficiency (e.g., ELPT) and maintain accurate records of student progressAnalyze data from classroom performance, language assessments, and student work to drive instructional decisionsEnsure all EL students receive required accommodations on assessments and in instructionMaintain documentation and support school EL complianceFamily & Schoolwide EngagementCommunicate regularly with families about student progress, goals, and resources in accessible and respectful waysParticipate in the development and implementation of individualized English Learner plansSupport the schools vision for inclusion, equity, and linguistic diversity through schoolwide initiatives and eventsCANDIDATE PROFILEEducation and Certification:Bachelors degree (preferred)Degree in content area (preferred)Content area certification (preferred)Experience and Skills:Proven track record of helping students develop academic skills that support classroom and school successAbility to maintain composure and consistency in high-stress situationsStrong organizational and documentation skillsClear, direct communication skills with both students and adultsPrior experience working with youth in an educational or behavioral support setting preferredCulture and Fit:Believes deeply in the mission and students of Jefferson RISEEager to learn, grow, and improve their craftOpen to feedback and takes ownership for their impact on students and the school communityWilling to take initiative and find solutions when challenges ariseActs with integrity and puts students firstCollaborative and flexible ready to pitch in and support teammatesBENEFITSRISE employees are paid twice a month on the 15th and last day of each month.Jefferson RISE pays the following employee-only benefit costs for all full-time employees: coverage 85% of medical premiums and 100% of dental, vision, short and long term disability premiums. The Employee covers the remaining costs, including 15% employee medical and all spouse/dependent costs. RISE provides a 401(k) retirement plan to all W-2 employees, including a match of up to 100% of contributions on the first 3% deferred, then 50% of contributions from 3% to 5%. There is no vesting period. Jefferson RISE reserves the right to offer different or additional benefits to the Employee at any time.
