Job Title: Environmental ScientistLocation: Saratoga Springs NYJob Type: Regular Full-timeWhats the OpportunityAnchor QEA is seeking a full-time entry-level geologist or environmental scientist to support work in the Saratoga Springs NY area as well as throughout the northeastern United States. We are looking for candidates that are interested in upland and aquatic site investigations with the ability to collect data to assist project teams working to solve complex environmental problems. The applicant should have 0 to 2 years of experience performing field assessments and analyzing data and must be willing to work outdoors in all seasons and travel to work sites out of the area overnight on occasion. The ideal candidate will have prior experience operating a variety of small power boats and must be a self-starter ready to learn and ask questions in a collaborative work environment.Responsibilities:Participate in fieldwork as team member. Will be responsible for reviewing and becoming familiar with applicable plans and asking appropriate questions to understand work to be completed and contribute to a successful project.Read understand and abide by Health and Safety Plans and contribute to a culture of safetyAttend training opportunities and develop both field and office-based skills to support current and future projects.Interact with project managers and agency staff (daily reporting communicate field deviations project status updates) and assist in interpretation of site data.Support the preparation of sampling and analysis plans remedial investigation and feasibility study reports and design documents including technical specifications.Travel to support field investigation or construction projects up to 50% of time.Assist with operation/operate a variety of sampling vessels including small jon boats skiffs and pontoon boatsMaintain DOT driving certification and operate company vehicles (pickup trucks vans box trucks) including trailering boats and other small utility trailersFollow Anchor QEA policies and procedures including but not limited to environmental health and safety quality assurance and quality controlWhat Are We Looking For Ideal candidates will have the following:Bachelors degree in geological or environmental science or related field0 to 2 years of relevant fieldwork experienceSelf-starter with ability to work independently or collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary teamProficiency using MS Office applicationsCritical thinking and strong problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skills40-hour HAZWOPER certification (preferred; will be provided by Anchor QEA upon hire if not currently certified)Prior experience conducting data analysis using ArcGIS Python or similar software packages.Experience with aquatic field investigations (e.g. sediment and surface water sample collection; boat trailering/boaters certification) is a plus.Clean driving recordDrug and alcohol screening may be requiredWhat Can You ExpectA collaborative work environment where we encourage everyone to bring their authentic self.
