Entry Level Interior Designer at AECOM

AECOM is seeking an Entry Level Interior Designer to be based in Roanoke VA.This position is expected to begin in Summer 2026.The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:Responsible for initiating and developing design and construction document drawings through completion for assigned projects in conformance with the requirements applicable codes and design criteria established by the projects discipline leaders.Under some supervision may complete design assignments of moderate complexity.Limited familiarity with codes permits and software applications related to the discipline.Introduced to the process of preparing designs and drawings using project specifications and discipline-associated written and verbal instructions in accordance with established design practices standards and procedures.Intermediate understanding of the purpose and use of vendor documents.Applies education training and knowledge to perform typical assignmentsBuilds on foundational knowledge of theories concepts and professional principlesMay be part of a formal training program working towards professional certificationReceives direction and guidance on well-structured assignments for the purpose of developmentAccountable for delivering clearly defined portions of a process or task for review by othersImpact of work is typically the employees team or project teamUse standard procedures protocols or techniques to resolve clearly defined problems and escalate more complex issuesMay provide feedback about existing procedures to make improvementsShows interest in accepting new responsibilitiesExchanges information and builds relationships within own team and other internal project teams on routine mattersInteracts and exchanges information with colleaguesContributes by solving straightforward problems and applying experience or theoretical knowledge to atypical assignmentsAnalyzes and solves typical issues with help from more senior staff as neededTypically has a college degree or equivalent work experience that provides knowledge and exposure to fundamental theories principles and conceptsResponsible for initiating and developing design and construction document drawings through completion for assigned projects in conformance with the requirements applicable codes and design criteria established by the projects discipline leadersUnder direct supervision completes design assignments of limited complexityApplies a basic level of understanding within a specific disciplineFamiliarity with codes permits and software applications related to the disciplineFamiliar with the process of preparing designs and drawings using project specifications and discipline-associated written and verbal instructions in accordance with established design practices standards and proceduresBasic understanding of the purpose and use of vendor documents as reference for assigned tasksPerforms a self-check of work products prior to submitting to othersWorks collaboratively with guidance on how to complete work activities that are unfamiliarWork is regularly reviewed by supervisors and more senior team membersQualifications : Minimum Requirements:Bachelors Degree in Interior Design Architecture Interior Architecture or related field.Due to the nature of the work U.S. Citizenship is required for this role. Preferred Qualifications:Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.Experience in project construction documentation using Revit.Proficient in SketchUp Adobe Creative Suites products or other related graphic software.Knowledge of project design and construction documentation and materials.Ability to work on multiple fast-paced projects.Ability to follow directions and manage specific tasks to completion.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Portfolio submission required to demonstrate skill set.Additional Information : Relocation assistance is not available for this position.About AECOM AECOM is proud to offer comprehensive benefits to meet the diverse needs of our employees.
