Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPosition SummaryThe EOC Director is responsible for all aspects of hospital safety and operations related to the Environment of Care and Life Safety standards. This includes oversight of Maintenance, Housekeeping, Dietary, and Transportation departments for the designated hospital.The EOC Director plays a key leadership role on the Safety/Environment of Care Committee and the Hazardous Materials and Waste Subcommittee, ensuring all hospital processes and physical environments meet regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards for safety.This position ensures the maintenance and readiness of the facility’s buildings, grounds, equipment, physical plant systems, and operational procedures, promoting excellence in patient, staff, and visitor safety.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee and manage the hospital’s Environment of Care and Life Safety programs.Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements related to safety, life safety, hazardous materials, utilities, security, and emergency preparedness.Provide leadership and oversight to the Maintenance, Housekeeping, Dietary, and Transportation departments.Monitor and maintain the physical plant—including buildings, grounds, equipment, and all maintenance needs.Participate actively on the Safety/Environment of Care Committee and Hazardous Materials & Waste Subcommittee.Assess and improve safety conditions for patients, visitors, and employees through evaluation of physical surroundings, workflows, and operational procedures.Oversee daily operations of campus environmental services, ensuring compliance with hospital standards and regulatory expectations.Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of Environment of Care policies and procedures.Conduct regular environment and life-safety rounds to identify risks and ensure timely corrective action.Maintain documentation required for accreditation surveys, inspections, and organizational reporting.Promote a culture of safety, quality, and accountability throughout the hospital.Preferred Knowledge, Skills & ExperienceEducation:Bachelor’s degree preferred OR experience in building trades with emphasis on life safety and healthcare environment of care standards.License:None required.Experience:3–5 years of experience in a hospital or nursing home setting, preferably in safety, plant operations, or facilities management.Additional Required SkillsStrong verbal and written communication skillsEffective organizational and time-management abilitiesExcellent interpersonal skills and ability to lead teamsAnalytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructionsProficiency with PC computers and Microsoft OfficeBasic understanding of DSM-5 diagnostic criteriaBasic understanding of medical and psychiatric diagnoses for safety considerationsCertificates, Licenses, and Registrations RequiredValid Photo IDSocial Security Card / Driver’s LicensePrimary source verification of educationCopy of clinical license (if applicable)CPR certificationBehavioral Management Training
