Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSalary: Starting at $25 based on experiencePosition SummaryThe Environment of Care (EOC) Director plays a critical leadership role in ensuring a safe, compliant, and well-maintained healthcare environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This position oversees all aspects of facility safety, life safety, and physical plant operations, with a strong emphasis on maintenance, environmental services, and operational excellence.The EOC Director leads and supports Maintenance, Housekeeping, Dietary, and Transportation departments, ensuring the campus operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with regulatory standards. This role is ideal for a hands-on facilities or maintenance professional who understands healthcare environments and takes pride in creating safe, high-quality spaces.The EOC Director serves as an active member of the Safety / Environment of Care Committee and the Hazardous Materials & Waste Subcommittee, contributing to continuous improvement, compliance readiness, and risk reduction across the hospital.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide leadership and oversight for facility maintenance, environmental services, and life safety operationsEnsure the physical plant, grounds, and building systems are properly maintained and operationalOversee preventive maintenance programs, work orders, inspections, and repairsMaintain compliance with Environment of Care, Life Safety, and safety regulationsSupport readiness for surveys, audits, and inspectionsLead safety initiatives that promote a secure environment for patients, employees, and visitorsCollaborate with leadership to identify risks, improve processes, and enhance operational efficiencyParticipate in and contribute to Safety, EOC, and Hazardous Materials committeesSupervise and mentor departmental leaders and staffEnsure proper handling of hazardous materials, waste management, and emergency preparednessPreferred Knowledge, Skills & ExperienceEducationBachelors degree OR equivalent experience in the building trades, facilities management, or maintenanceStrong emphasis on life safety and Environment of Care in healthcare settingsExperience35 years of experience in a hospital, behavioral health facility, or nursing homeDemonstrated experience in maintenance leadership or facilities operationsStrong working knowledge of healthcare safety standards and life safety principlesCore CompetenciesStrong verbal and written communication skillsExcellent organizational and time-management abilitiesEffective interpersonal and leadership skillsAnalytical and problem-solving mindsetAbility to read and interpret technical manuals, safety documentation, and instructionsProficient with PC computers and basic software systemsBasic understanding of medical and psychiatric environments (training provided as needed)Certificates, Licenses & Registrations (Required)Valid Photo IDSocial Security Card and/or Drivers LicensePrimary Source Verification of educationCPR certificationBehavioral Management TrainingCopy of applicable clinical license (if required for role)Why Join UsMake a direct impact on patient and staff safetyLead critical maintenance and facilities operations in a healthcare settingStable leadership role with opportunities to influence safety and operational standardsWork in a mission-driven environment focused on quality care and compliance
