The Department also provides civil engineering services for land development and Capital Improvement Projects (CIP).Duties/ResponsibilitiesWhat Youll DoAs our new Environmental Compliance Coordinator you will:Implement and enforce federal and state regulated NPDES regulations and those relating to California Water Codes Safe Drinking Water Regulations RCRA Clean Water Act and Title 22 regulations as well as administer the Hazardous Substances Management Household Hazardous Waste Program and similar programs.Prepare and maintain records for Industrial Wastewater Discharge Permits inspections sampling and enforcement actions and for agencies such as the South Coast Air Quality Management District Reports Federal Pretreatment Program Report Annual MS4 Report and Inland Empire Utilities Agency Reports.Establish new procedures and purchase equipment to maintain program compliance; prepare annual budget and present progress reports on cost expenditures for the Environmental Engineering Section.Perform a variety of field inspections including but not limited to National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Pre-Treatment Fats Oils and Grease (FOG) and Water Quality Management Plan (WQMP).Perform a variety of administrative duties related to regulations policies procedures systems reports surveys and documentation.What Were Looking ForWere looking for someone who:Is familiar with applicable federal state and local laws codes and regulations relating to the management of water quality stormwater National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Resources Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Title 22 Clean Water Act Safe Water Drinking Act and other environmental issues.Understands the organization and function of the Public Works department.Is excited by challenges loves to learn and thrives in a collaborative fast-paced environment.QualificationsAny combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:Education: High school diploma or G.E.D.Experience: Four (4) years of increasingly responsible and diversified experience in environmental compliance including one (1) year of experience in a lead or supervisory capacity.Licenses and Certifications:Possession of a valid California Drivers License to be maintained throughout employment.Possession of CWEA Grade II Environmental Compliance Inspector (ECI) within twelve (12) months of employment.Special RequirementsPhysical Demands and Working Conditions:Mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standing office equipment including a computer.Operate a motor vehicle and visit various community sites.Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen.Hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.The ability to lift carry push and pull materials and objects averaging a weight of 20 pounds or heavier weights in all cases with the use of proper equipment and/or assistance from other staff.Ready to ApplyAll applicants are required to apply online at The closing date is 11:59 PM Pacific on Sunday January 4 2026.
