Job Description

ResponsibilitiesDevelop and support a comprehensive empowered safety culture within a dynamic research and development environment.Build administer and instruct safety training procedures and compliance systems tailored to the various internal audiences.Partner with internal teams including facilities lab management supply chain human resources finance and technical teams to achieve objectives and maintain a safe and compliant workplace.Proactively engage with employees at all levels to better understand their concerns and work hazards as well as facilitate all aspects of daily safe work conduct.Continually assess environment health and safety risks of Zap Energy operations and make recommendations to teams and company leaders.Provide technical expertise in occupational safety and health environmental compliance and sustainability.Drive thorough investigations for all incidents and accidents for all sites and ensures timely completion of corrective actions.Lead the team in developing effective root cause analysis and countermeasures.Keep up to date on regulatory requirements and industry trends.Proactively plan for and share considerations with leadership for future facilities processes equipment suppliers and materials.Engage with relevant consultants external agencies and other regulatory organizations at the local state and national level.QualificationsManager - Required:Certificate Diploma or Degree in Environmental Health and Safety or related field10 years of total EHS experience3 years of experience managing an EHS team5 years of EHS experience in a corporate laboratory / research and development (R&D) environmentDemonstrated ability to develop deploy and administer EHS Programs in R&D organizationsExcellent verbal written and customer service skillsSpecialist Required:Certificate Diploma or Degree in Environmental Health and Safety or related field7 years of total EHS experience5 years of EHS experience in a corporate laboratory / research and development (R&D) environmentDemonstrated ability to develop deploy and administer EHS Programs in R&D organizationsExcellent verbal written and customer service skillsPreferred:Direct experience successfully managing the following hazard classes in corporate laboratory / R&D environments:High Voltage Including arc flashFunctional SafetyThermal / Hot WorkChemical Including reactive caustic metalsLasersCompressed gasesPressure vesselsConfined spacesRadiologicalAbout You:Strong positive energy and enjoy driving improvement in the safety and well-being of othersHighly organized excellent attention to detail and excited by new and ambitious assignmentsDemonstrate a high degree of professionalism and integrityHave a team-mindset and actively collaborate respectfully communicate and be open to new ideasA self-starter and possess ability to coordinate and lead safety efforts with minimal directionThrive in a fast-paced dynamic environmentWhile doing meaningful work is rewarding in itself Zap Energy also offers the following:Competitive compensationMatching retirement contributionsPremium health insuranceFlexible vacation and paid company holidaysZap Energy is building a low-cost compact and scalable fusion energy platform that confines and compresses plasma without the need for expensive and complex magnetic coils.
