DESCRIPTIONThe County of Yolo is recruiting to fill one (1) regular full-time position in the class of Environmental Health Program Coordinator in the Land Use Unit of the Environmental Health Division at the Department of Community Services.The PositionUnder general direction the Environmental Health Program Coordinator plans organizes coordinates implements and monitors activities within the Land Use Program to ensure compliance with environmental health safety and regulatory requirements. The incumbent supports development review processes onsite wastewater treatment system evaluations water supply assessments and other land use-related functions by coordinating program tasks tracking and analyzing data preparing reports and developing public outreach materials. The position also directs coordinates and monitors the work of assigned staff consultants vendors and contractors while serving as a key liaison between Environmental Health Planning Building Public Works developers and property owners to support safe sustainable growth throughout Yolo County.Theideal candidate for this position is a motivated problem-solver who is passionate about supporting Yolo Countys commitment to safe sustainable growth through thoughtful land use planning. A successful candidate will thrive in working with property owners planners engineers and partner agencies to ensure that every project supports long-term environmental protection responsible development and the wellbeing of our communities.How to ApplyInterested applicants shouldsubmit a County of Yolo online employment application with attached verification of education documents and complete responses to the required supplemental questions by the listed closing date.For additional important and detailed information see theApplication & Selection Process section of this job announcement.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSClass Specification / Position DescriptionClick on the link to the class specification below to review the full description for this position.Environmental Health Program CoordinatorEMPLOYMENT STANDARDSTheminimum qualifications required for a candidate to proceed in the selection process are as follows:Education: Bachelors degree in Environmental Health Health Science Physical Science Toxicology Environmental Resource Management Engineering Biology Geology Hydrology or closely related field;ANDExperience:Four (4) years of experience performing regulatory enforcement and compliance functions in the areas of environmental health and safety and/or hazardous materials for a recognized environmental health and safety entity as defined by state law of which two (2) years must have been in a lead capacity.Substitution: A masters degree in Environmental Health Health Science Physical Science Toxicology Environmental Resource Management Engineering Biology Geology Hydrology or closely related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.Special Requirements:Incumbents assigned to the Land Use and Consumer Protection Programs must possess a valid registration certificate as an Environmental Health Specialist from the California Department of Public Health.Incumbents assigned to the Hazardous Materials programs must successfully complete 40-hours of Hazardous Waste Operations (40-HR HAZWOPR) training as referenced by 8 CCR 5192 within 12 months of employment and the Hazardous Materials Technician level training as referenced by 19 CCR 2520 within 18 months of employment.License:Positions in this classification require incumbents to possess and maintain a valid California drivers license Class C or higher to carry out job related duties.
