This is a hybrid position working from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday for a total of 37.5 hours per week. The pay rate for this position is $39.00 per hour.Environmental Scientist Job Overview:The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation is seeking an Environmental Scientist who can provide excellent customer service and can effectively communicate with a diverse internal and external customer base. The preferred candidate will possess strong time management and organizational skills and must be willing to perform fieldwork in rural areas construction sites and in all weather conditions and perform frequent day travel.General Responsibilities for Environmental Scientist position will include:Collecting chemical bacteriological and biological samples of surface waters for analysis to assess stream health.Conducting sanitary surveys of community and non-community public water systems to ensure compliance with federal and state drinking water standards.Serving as a knowledgeable point of contact for public water system operators landowners and local stakeholders providing guidance on regulatory requirements and compliance.Collaborating with internal regulatory teams consultants water system operators elected officials and members of the public to resolve issues and support environmental goals.Education Experience and Qualification Requirements for Environmental Scientist position:Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelors degree in environmental science biology chemistry wildlife biology or related field.
