The estimated per hourly range for this position is $22 - 30 per hour based on experience.Are you passionate about sustainabilityS&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to coordinate our Sustainability & Environmental function. As aEnvironmental & Sustainability Co-Op youll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team. Key Responsibilities:Data Management: Upload and enter utilities data for all S&C locations; assist with compliance related data collection tracking and reporting; collect and analyze waste management data creating monthly performance dashboards. Research & Benchmarking: Hunt for grants and incentives for renewable energy investments while evaluating different renewable energy sources and their pros and cons; update and compare sustainability data with industry standards; analyze how companies report on UN Sustainable Development Goals; research and summarize zero waste to landfill programs and circular economy practices. Field Work & Event Support: Assist with soil sampling and pollinator audits in our native garden; support onsite audits to collect data for environmental compliance while networking with folks in production operations; help organize Sustainability Week events including recycling and waste collection. What youll Need To Succeed:Job Requirements ( To select this job at a minimum you must have the following):Must be in good standing as a student at the Bachelors degree level at an accredited university majoring in Environmental Engineering Environmental Science Sustainability Chemistryor related field and returning to school full-time at the end of the internship. Comfortable commuting and working onsite at S&C HQ in Rogers Park Chicago IL. Ability to work Full-Time inSummer 2026.Minimum Technical Skills:Data Management: Proficiency in data entry data collection and data analysisEnvironmental Compliance:Knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance requirementsResearch Skills:Ability to conduct thorough research and benchmarkingSoftware Proficiency:Familiarity with data management and analysis tools (e.g. ExcelPowerBI etc.)Minimum Soft Skills:Attention to Detail:Precision in data handling and reportingAnalytical Thinking:Strong problem-solving and analytical skillsCommunication:Effective written and verbal communication skillsTeam Collaboration:Ability to work well in a team and network with different departmentsOrganizational Skills:Strong organizational and time management skillsPreferred:Prior environmental and sustainability internship/co-op experience a plus Skills in organizing and supporting eventsHands-on experience with environmental fieldwork (e.g. soil sampling water sampling waste sampling audits etc.)Familiarity with 99% landfill free circular economy principles and similar programsReady to make an impact and become an employee-owner Apply now to join our inclusive and innovative team!
