About the roleThe Leader Plant Pest Surveillance leads the design implementation and management of a range of surveillance programs in NSW for the early detection containment and eradication of emergency plant pests; and to monitor and collate data for pest freedom status for economically important pests to support and enhance domestic and international market access for NSW plants and plant products. This position leads four direct reports responsible for responding to suspect exotic plant pest reports delivering grains biosecurity in NSW managing early detection surveillance in the high-risk port areas and coordinating area freedom surveillance across the state to support market access.Our ideal candidate will have:Experience in designing and implementing surveillance programs reporting and data management.Strategic thinking skills to prioritise and manage multiple pest surveillance initiatives.Stakeholder engagement abilities to build strong relationships with industry groups government bodies and local communities.Decision-making autonomy within the Departments guidelines with experience representing NSW interests on national state and project committees and working groups concerning plant biosecurity.Essential RequirementsTertiary qualifications in agriculture plant science entomology ecology or other area relevant to plant biosecurityCurrent NSW Drivers Licence with the ability and willingness to travel.To hear more about this role contact Louise Rossiter Manager Plant Pest & Disease Surveillance onor via Alternatively you can view the fullRole Description - PO Grade 5 - Leader Plant Pest Surveillance - BFSReady to make a difference Apply now and lead the charge in plant pest surveillance!
