We are seeking an Equipment Operator to support aerial and underground fiber-construction projects. This role operates heavy equipment, assists field crews, performs routine equipment checks, and helps ensure safe and efficient job-site operations. Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions, and travel to job sites-including overnight out-of-town assignments-is required.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, backhoes, trenchers, skid steers, and rock saws
  2. Perform excavation, trenching, backfilling, and site preparation
  3. Assist crews with groundwork and installation tasks
  4. Complete daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs
  5. Follow all safety procedures and maintain awareness of underground and overhead utilities
  6. Load, unload, and secure equipment and materials
  7. Work outdoors in all weather and terrain conditions
  8. Travel to job sites, including overnight out-of-town assignments; overtime may be required
  9. Participate in required training and perform traffic control as needed

Position Requirements

  1. Experience operating heavy construction equipment; telecom/utility experience preferred
  2. Ability to read and follow construction plans and job specifications
  3. Strong understanding of job-site safety and utility-location awareness
  4. Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain
  5. Reliable attendance, strong work ethic, and commitment to safe work practices
  6. Ability to work outdoors and travel as needed
