Job Description

Overview:The Equity and Inclusion Manager (Manager) of the Mayors Office of Housing will lead the design and implementation of Equity and Inclusion plans for their cabinet following the structure provided by the Equity & Inclusion Cabinet.The Mayors Office of Housing (MOH) works to foster healthy vibrant and welcoming communities for all by ensuring stable green and accessible housing and the sustainable use of land. MOH oversees programs that create and preserve affordable housing support homeowners and renters provide housing and services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness and develop city-owned property. MOH envisions a Boston where all residents have the homes and neighborhoods they need to thrive.Reporting to the Director of Operations or designee the Equity and Inclusion Manager will provide the staffing structure and support to embed equity and inclusion strategies within the policies programs and operations of the Mayors Office of Housing. The Manager will be part of a cohort of E&I Managers embedded in Cabinets across the City of Boston working to achieve equity and inclusion in their own cabinets policies programs and practices by operationalizing equity and inclusion processes and goals in a manner tailored to the cabinet. Managers will be in frequent communication with each other and the E&I Cabinet staff particularly the E&I Network Program Administrator Deputy Chief of Policy and Programs and Chief.Learn about the Equity & Inclusion Cabinet at Responsibilities:Create and Implement E&I Standards and Goals:Assess cabinet strengths needs goals and opportunities to better address issues of equity and inclusion.Identify major aspects of work in which equity and inclusion need to be embedded and begin to address them even as equity and inclusion standards and goals are being developed.Lead development of the cabinets specific equity and inclusion standards.Support the implementation of the cabinets equity and inclusion standards by ensuring staff have adequate training and providing technical assistance to staff.Make recommendations for cabinet actions and goals to increase equity and inclusion that include Theory of Change (ToC) modeling and concrete measurable outcomes.Design the scope of work to reach set equity and inclusion goals.Lead periodic review and updating process of the cabinets equity and inclusion standards and goals.Monitor Progress:Develop metrics and systems to measure progress regarding equity and inclusion goals.Regularly evaluate and report on the cabinets performance against these metrics.Write research-based and community-informed recommendations for subsequent action.Take on ad-hoc projects and responsibilities that contribute to the advancement of equity and inclusion goals addressing emergent needs or unique opportunities as they arise.Collaborate with fellow Equity and Inclusion Officers throughout the citywide network to collectively improve social determinants of health for all constituents.Perform related work as required. Minimum Entrance Qualifications:Five (5) years of experience in project program or operations management involving multiple stakeholders. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. One (1) year of experience may be substituted with an associates degree or up to two (2) years may be substituted with a bachelors degree.Commitment to Mayor Wus vision of building a City for Everyone that prioritizes constituents from historically excluded communities.A strong ability to project manage and coordinate the needs of various stakeholders.Experience in the public sector and/or unionized environments is preferred.Familiarity with the affordable housing field preferred.Advanced conflict resolution and relationship building skills which result in the ability to convene parties for difficult dialogue and decision making.Exceptional organizational skills to ensure completion of required reports and projects in a timely manner.Past communications experience in motivating others to join equity and inclusion initiatives is a plus.Demonstrated leadership change management and verbal and written communication skills.A problem-solving mindset that can take on a large task and operationalize the work into smaller measurable outcomes.Ability to exercise good judgment patience understanding empathy tact and focus on detail as required by the job.Proficiency with Microsoft applications Google Suite and Zoom.Ability to maintain the integrity of confidential information.Knowledge of Boston is a plus.BOSTON RESIDENCY REQUIREDTerms:Union/Salary Plan/Grade: Non-Union/MM2-8Hours per week: 35Required Experience:Manager Key Skills Arabic Speaking,Marketing & Promotions,Access Control System,Apache Tomcat,BI,Back Office Employment Type : Full-Time Experience: years Vacancy: 1
