If you want to learn more please visit our About page on our Berg website at Estimator II will create project specifications by accurately projecting the number of materials equipment and man hours that must be utilized to complete a given project. The Estimator II will also play a role in Sales and to work alongside the team to generate new clients. This role will work closely with their team to create a competitive project budget that is presented to clients. The Estimator will ensure accurate communication of changes are priced and acknowledged.Essential FunctionsPreconstruction/EstimatingManage review of weekly bid list to ensure the team is bidding the right opportunities and our preferred clients are receiving priority on bid activity.Reviews project plans and specifications to get comfortable with the work and begin development of an estimate (Price materials labor equipment and other expenses to be included in the project budget for submittal).Reviews change orders RFIs ASIs DCNs and scope changes.Accurate take-off of blueprints to include the scope necessary to be competitive and adhere to company guidelines.Review scope of work and instructions to bidders to ensure our proposals are complete and all risk is addressed prior to submitting proposal.Adheres to bid review process and makes necessary edits to bids as needed.Work with the SR. and Chief Estimators on bid margins and supports recommendation or request to adjust where applicable.Assist Project Managers with filling out Bid Submittals forms as needed.Assists SR. and Chief Estimator in your region on project delivery to operations team.Open lines of communication between The Berg Group and selected general contractors on bidding projects.SalesGenerate new clients.Participate in the prioritization of clients as a team.Continue the development of existing client base strengthening long term relationships and development of opportunities for optimum margin of sales through partnering and negotiated services.Maintain and develop relationships with subcontractors and vendors utilized by Berg.Qualifications Experience and QualificationsMinimum QualificationsHigh degree of financial acumenProven ability to communicate openly and have important conversations with internal and external clientsStrong organizational skills; attention to detailBasic presentation skills to represent information and updates in a group settingAbility to read and comprehend complex construction documents i.e. blueprintsAbility to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced and dynamic work environmentStrong work ethicProblem solving mindsetTechnology savvyStrong computer skills; proficient in MS Excel MS Word and MS Outlook.Preferred QualificationsTechnical Degree Bachelors degree or currently pursuing a Degree in Construction Management or similar2-3 years of related experience in commercial constructionKnowledge of document editing software i.e. BlueBeam Adobe Acrobat Plan Grid PlexxisIndustry knowledge in Drywall Steel Stud Metal Framing Paint EFIS or other product/service that is core to Bergs offeringsSedentary WorkSedentary work involves lifting no more than 10 - 15 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying.Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally and other sedentary criteria are met.The Berg Group isan equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employmentwithout regard to race color religion age sex national origin disability status genetics protected veteran status sexual orientation gender identity or expression or any other characteristic protected by federal state or local laws.
