Job Description

Position: Extended Term Substitute Kindergarten TeacherAvailable now through November 2025Peabody School/OSSPeabody School Community:The Office of Student Services (OSS) is responsible for providing a variety of supports and services to students in Cambridge Public Schools (CPS). Our programs are dedicated to ensuring equitable access and success for students with disabilities and students who have advanced learning needs.The Opportunity:The Peabody School is seeking a talented Kindergarten ETS to join our caring and innovative learning community. The successful candidate will have experience planning implementing and adapting curriculum based on the Massachusetts State Frameworks and the Common Core. S/he will set high expectations for all students and utilize scaffolding and differentiation to support students. The teacher will have an appreciation and awareness of the unique developmental needs of young people in this age band. As a professional the ETS will display a collegial spirit that supports and enhances continual professional growth consistent with the educational goals and philosophies of the Peabody School and will be fully committed to continuously learning improving reflecting and working together as a community to ensure that all students achieve at high levels.Key Responsibilities:Collaborate with all team members including but not limited to special educators instructional coaches paraprofessionals interventionists and other support personnelIncorporate a variety of assessment strategies including district-wide exams and formative assessment in order to inform instruction and target intervention and enrichment needsIntegrating social learning into the classroom will work to foster a safe caring and active learning communityPartner with families and include them in the students learning and development as well as encourage families to further the mission of the schoolBuild on established partnerships with surrounding community institutions and organizationsYour Skill Set:As the incoming Kindergarten Teacheryou will possess many though perhaps not all of the following characteristics and qualifications:Bachelors degree required Masters degree preferredAt least two years of full-time classroom instructionMassachusetts State Early Childhood certification is requiredExperience working in an urban educational setting including the ability to work successfully with students colleagues and families from diverse ethnic cultural and socio-economic backgrounds preferredA strong work ethic alongside a commitment to doing whatever it takes for students to excelHow to Join Our Team:Apply online at .
