The Daniels College of Business (DCB) offers a variety of baccalaureate graduate PhD and certificate programs which are detailed at SummaryThe Burns School Events Manager is responsible for managing a wide range of events hosted by the Burns School that vary in audience purpose and scope. The Events Manager will be responsible for both strategic planning and logistical implementation of most events at the Burns School. When working on events related to Burns Schools Advancement goals the Events Manager will provide strategic guidance and work closely with staff from the office of Advancement Events who will lead event implementation and logistics to create a positive event experience. When working on other events at the Burns School the Events Manager will manage all event logistics as well as provide some strategic and content guidance. The Events Manager is expected to collaborate closely with staff and faculty in the Burns School and plays a key role in the Burns Schools community engagement efforts. Reporting to the Director of the Burns School and working closely with the Director of Marketing & Communications the Events Manager also plays a critical role in building community and streamlining communication at Burns through managing events. There are many steady stream events throughout the year as well as Company Info Sessions and RECM Club events that get scheduled quarterly. Events also include Sessions with our industry partners in our Collaboratory classroom.Success in this position requires flexibility to balance overarching event strategy with managing logistical details. We are seeking a candidate with exceptional customer service and problem-solving skills with the diplomacy and savvy to work with a wide range of stakeholders. This position collaborates closely and serves on project teams with staff and faculty from across campus. This is a benefited position expected to work approximately 37.5 hours per week with a variable schedule as needed to support evening or weekend events.Essential FunctionsDesign and logistically manage the Burns Schools in-person hybrid and virtual events. Depending on the event this may be inclusive of event planning and content development vendor relations and contracts on-site details webinar creation and hosting event program and preparation and post-event follow-up.Serve as an active and collaborative partner with colleagues at the Burns School and across the University to foster strategic effective and collaborative engagement and communication.Coordinate with Director of Marketing & Communications to develop marketing and communication strategy and materials for promotion and follow-up of events.Work with faculty and staff to design event content that achieves strategic objectives.Draft remarks key messages and event briefs for DU leadership and guest speakers.Ensure that events are accessible and inclusive for a variety of populations.Create and track event budgets and revenue expectations.Coordinate recruit train and manage volunteers and student employees.Manage lists and reporting as appropriate for successful event production and follow-up.Manage the storage and inventory of event-related materials and supplies.Gather and assess event-related data and metrics to help with debriefs and strategic planning.Develop and enforce event-related policies and materials including strategic limits on the number of events that the Burns School hosts each year.Cross-train with other staff to build organizational resilience.Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.Knowledge Skills and AbilitiesWorking knowledge of development and engagement principlesKnowledge of virtual event and engagement tools (such as Zoom) and best practicesHigh degree of organizational communication and project management skillsExcellent interpersonal skillsHigh level of customer service skills including demonstrated ability to understand and address the unique needs of wide variety of audiencesStrong problem-solving and critical thinking skills and ability to use judgment in situations that that require sensitivity and tactAbility to partner with and create inclusive events for a wide variety of stakeholdersAbility to demonstrate dependabilityAbility to take initiative and maintain a positive professional demeanorAbility to display outstanding attention to detail and commitment to qualityAbility to work independently and as part of various teamsAbility to adapt and show flexibility when working in a transitioning environmentRequired QualificationsBachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience2 or more years of experience in event managementExperience working with donors and/or high-profile guestsPreferred QualificationsExperience working in a University setting or similar complex organizationDemonstrated experience promoting accessibility and inclusion in eventsDemonstrated experience designing event contentWorking EnvironmentStandard office environment.Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.Noise level is quiet to moderate.Physical ActivitiesAbility to work in front of a computer for extended periods of time.Occasionally required to move about the office/campus.Work ScheduleMonday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.Application DeadlineFor consideration please submit your application materials by 10:00 p.m. (MST) December 7 2025.Special InstructionsCandidates must apply online through to be considered.
