Job Description

The New York City Department of Investigation (DOI) is one of the oldest law enforcement agencies in the country with a mission of combating municipal corruption. It serves the people of New York City by acting as an independent and nonpartisan watchdog for New York City government City agencies and City employees vendors with City contracts individuals and entities that receive City funds. The Commission to Combat Police Corruption (CCPC) studies and audits the investigations discipline and policies of the NYPD to prevent deter and detect corruption and serious misconduct. The Examining Attorneys main function will be to act as Records Access Officer Agency Privacy Officer Records Retention Officer and Open Data Liaison. The Examining Attorney will also review and analyze closed NYPD Internal Affairs Bureau investigations; prepare written memoranda including recommendations for improved investigative procedures; meet with Department executives and investigators to discuss case analyses; and review administrative disciplinary cases prosecuted by the NYPD or the Civilian Complaint Review Board.
