JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION SUMMARY
Provides executive leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight for Patient Care Services, including the 30-bed Trauma Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 42-bed Trauma Acute Care Unit (ACU), representing a 72-bed high-acuity trauma service line. Accountable for ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care in alignment with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and evidence-based practice standards.
Oversees clinical operations, nursing practice, and interdisciplinary care delivery across assigned units. Establishes and drives strategic initiatives to enhance patient outcomes, optimize throughput, improve workforce engagement, and ensure fiscal stewardship.
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and current registration with the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas is required (Magnet). Effective January 1, 2016 a Masters Degree is required or enrollment in a Master's program. Effective August 1, 2015, National certification (e.g. CCRN, RNC, CEN, CNOR, OCN, ANCC, CAN, CPAN, CFRN, etc.) in related field is required unless currently enrolled in school. National Certification will be required one year after completion of the aforementioned education. Eight to ten years experience in nursing with at least two years in a supervisor or managerial position is preferred. Experience in a 300+ bed hospital preferred.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
Current license from the Board of Nurse Examiners of the State of Texas to practice as a registered nurse is required .
