Executive Director, Senior Lead Commercial Real Estate Portfolio Manager

Commercial Real Estate (CRE) provides a fully integrated platform of banking, financing, and capital markets solutions to commercial real estate clients including financial sponsors, institutional investors and asset managers, regional developers, and public and private corporations.

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking an Executive Director, Senior Lead Commercial Real Estate Portfolio Manager to manage a pre-stabilized portfolio of complex LIHTC equity investments, providing strategic leadership across some of Wells Fargo's largest and most sophisticated affordable housing clients. This Executive Director role requires deep experience in LIHTC equity asset management, particularly the ability to independently monitor a portfolio of assets undergoing construction, lease-up and permanent loan conversion.

In this role, you will:

  • Independently manage a portfolio of complex LIHTC equity investments, serving as the primary point of contact for general partners and internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor performance across construction, lease-up, and stabilized stages, directing market assessments, reviewing third-party inspections, and identifying emerging risks.
  • Lead risk governance for the portfolio, including surveillance for changes in risk ratings and delivering recommendations to credit partners and senior management.
  • Analyze financial statements, tax returns/audits, and partnership documentation; review and underwrite general partner consent requests; and evaluate capital contribution and reserve withdrawal requests.
  • Drive identification of issues and execution of action plans for troubled investments, partnering with internal stakeholders to ensure cross-functional resolution
  • Provide leadership through coaching and mentoring talent, leading projects and teams, identifying and owning process improvements, and contributing subject matter expertise.

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of Commercial Real Estate Portfolio Management experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of LIHTC experience across underwriting, portfolio/asset management, with strong knowledge of Section 42 and affordable housing fundamentals
  • Manage, strategize and execute action plans to resolve troubled tax credit investments
  • Advanced financial and tax analysis capabilities, with demonstrated ability to assess credit/portfolio impacts
  • Proficiency with complex CRE and partnership documentation, including underwriting perm loan conversions and evaluating construction-stage transactions
  • Executive-level communication and stakeholder management, with a track record of influencing cross-functional partners and senior leaders
  • Leadership experience includes coaching, training, mentoring, and directing project teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical skills and advanced Excel proficiency, with exceptional attention to detail and sound judgment in complex situations
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Real Estate, Finance, Accounting or related field

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.

$159,000.00 - $305,000.00
