Experienced Aerodynamics Stability and Control EngineerCompany:The Boeing CompanyBoeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking an Experienced Aerodynamics Stability and Control Engineer (Level 3) to join our Stability & Control (S&C) team based in Long Beach CA.As an Aerodynamic Stability and Control Engineer you will conduct analyses supporting both development and in-service aircraft. You will apply your expertise in flight dynamics and handling qualities to influence aircraft design verify capabilities during flight tests and support airline customers. Collaborating with cross-functional teams and flight test pilots you will use advanced computational tools and high-fidelity simulations to solve complex problems ensuring the safety performance and efficiency of Boeing Commercial Airplanes.Position Responsibilities:Develops and utilizes advanced 6 Degree of Freedom (DOF) aerodynamic flight modelsCollects and analyzes data from various aerodynamics testing methods (e.g. flight test CFD wind tunnel)Develops and verifies airplane-level flight requirementsDevelops control surface and actuation size requirementsDevelops documentation to capture design decisions analysis results and process improvementsDevelops new tools and techniques for improving analytical efficiencyProvides technical guidance during flight testingUnderstands and applies FAR part 25 certification requirements for large transport aircraftApplies understanding of flight physics to advise airplane design decisionsAddresses in-service accidents and incidents related to flight handling qualitiesCoordinates with a variety of internal and external customersResponds to a variety of technical challengesBasic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.2 years of experience working with aerospace engineering principles (Aerodynamics Airplane performance or Flight Operations).Strong programming skills in performing simulation analysis using at least one modern language (e.g. C Python or MATLAB).Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):Knowledge of aerodynamic principles and experience with analysis tools.Minor or strong interest in Computer Science or Mathematics.Experience working on diverse teams to solve complex engineering problems.Solid understanding of mathematical and statistical methods applied to engineering challenges.Ability to navigate ambiguous technical environments effectively.Quick learner with the ability to expand expertise independently or with minimal guidance.Drug Free Workplace:Boeing is a Drug Free Workplace where post offer applicants and employees are subject to testing for marijuana cocaine opioids amphetamines PCP and alcohol when criteria is met as outlined in our policies.Pay and Benefits:At Boeing we strive to deliver a Total Rewards package that will attract engage and retain the top talent.
