Our work is challenging meaningful and rapidly evolving; we are growing and looking for experienced software project leaders who can translate technical vision into dependable program execution.The Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization is seeking an Experienced Software Project Engineer in St. Charles MO. to lead Operational Flight Program (OFP) software teams supporting Cruise Missile Systems (CMS) and Direct Attack (DA) weapons. The role balances technical leadership with program-level accountabilitycoordinating cross-functional teams managing the software development lifecycle and ensuring fielded software meets rigorous performance safety and schedule requirements.What youll do:Lead and coordinate technical execution for OFP software teams and related integration activities.Own Cost Account Management (CAM) for assigned software work; oversee budgets monitor earned value performance and deliver objective forecasts.Maintain and defend the performance measurement baseline; collect timely cost and schedule data and compute key EVM indicators (CPI SPI ETC EAC).Identify root causes for variances drive corrective action and re-planning and keep leadership and stakeholders informed.Collaborate closely with systems engineering test QA and supply chain to ensure software is delivered on schedule within scope and on budget.Mentor and develop early-career engineers; foster a culture of continuous improvement safety and technical rigor.What were looking for:Demonstrated experience managing software programs or major software workstreams in aerospace defense or a related high-reliability domain.Strong working knowledge of the software development lifecycle configuration management and integration/test practices for embedded or flight software.Proven ability to lead earned value management (EVM) processes and produce clear reliable program forecasts.Excellent communicator who can present technical and programmatic status to technical teams and senior leadership.Collaborative mindset with a track record of working across engineering manufacturing and business teams to solve complex problems.Why Boeing:Work on systems that matterdelivering mission-critical capabilities with global impact.A culture that supports technical excellence mentorship and professional growth.The resources and partnerships to take on ambitious engineering challenges and see ideas through to deployment.Why St. Charles:On-site cafeteria offering hot meals and grab-and-go options.Active Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) providing networking mentorship and community engagement.Campus walking path and outdoor spaces for breaks walking meetings and wellness activities.Fitness and wellness programs local commuter resources and community events.Access to Boeings comprehensive benefits package professional development and opportunities for career growth.Position Responsibilities: Provides the Engineering leadership to a team representing multiple skill areas which may include internal and external resources and customers.Develops statement of work (SOW) to satisfy research and development ongoing and new business requirements.Works with customers and management to obtain approval.Identifies and manages changes to statement of work and assesses the impact of those changes and incorporates changes into statement of work.Using a variety of media clearly conveys information and ideas to individuals or groups in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the message.Lead team scrums to define product vision roadmap and growth opportunities and communicate with stakeholders throughout the project.Collaborate with internal and external contacts to analyze needs and align product roadmap to strategic goals.Work closely with product managers and business teams to create and maintain product backlog according to business value or ROI.Remain up to date on trends and best practices for agile project management.Communicate with internal and external customers both written and in person via presentations TIMS PDRs CDRs and final reports.Prepare documents such as Monthly status reports TIM presentations PDR & CDR reviews.Collaborate with fellow technical teammates on technical approaches inline to contractual CDRLs and provide EVM status if needed.
