JOB DESCRIPTION

Fabricator

This position is responsible for the fabrication of low and medium voltage electrical switchgear cabinets to fulfill customer orders. Employees will handle orders with blueprints, perform cutting and fabrication, use hand and power tools, and prepare materials for subsequent processing stages.

Responsibilities:

  • Process various types of steel including Cold Roll, Galvannel, and Stainless.
  • Recognize copper and steel thickness and gauges.
  • Cut copper and sheet steel on a shear (48x96).
  • Operate forming machinery to bend copper and steel using Hydraulic Brake Press models.
  • Operate shearing machinery for glastic and steel using Hydraulic Shear and Cincinnati Shear.
  • Punch holes in copper and steel with equipment like Boschert CU-PROFI and Stripit 750.
  • Wash, dry, and prepare steel parts for painting.
  • Debur and grind steel parts using hand tools.
  • Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service.
  • Ensure proper protective equipment is worn at all times, and tools or other equipment are correctly used based on the task.
  • Follow control document procedures.
  • Regular in-person attendance is an essential function of this job.

Essential Skills:

  • At least 2 years of experience as a Fabricator working with Press Brakes, Shop Equipment, and Hand/Power Tools.
  • Experience in washing steel parts and grinding & deburring.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and drawings.
  • Capability to convert fractions to decimal equivalents and vice versa.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Team player with good attendance.
  • Ability to take direction, follow instructions, and work positively with others.
  • Fluency in English for communication, including facilitating department huddles and collaborating with engineers and project managers.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Technical School preferred but not required.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Franklin Park, IL.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $23.97 - $23.97/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
