NSC Staffing is seeking a qualified Facilities Coordinator to support daily operations and maintenance activities at a large industrial facility in San Diego. The Facilities Coordinator is responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance, repair, and improvement tasks, coordinating preventive maintenance, and responding to facility-related issues as they arise. This role reports to the Facilities Manager and plays a key part in maintaining a safe, functional, and professional work environment.
Position Overview
The facilities coordinator supports facility operations by maintaining building systems, performing trades-related work, coordinating inspections and preventative maintenance, and responding to emergency maintenance needs. This role requires a hands-on professional with experience in multiple trades, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision in an industrial or shipyard environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, repairs, and improvements to facility structures and equipment.
- Schedule and complete preventative maintenance tasks.
- Respond to maintenance emergencies and urgent facility issues.
- Perform daily inspections of facility systems and equipment.
- Maintain facility landscaping and exterior areas.
Trade & Technical Work
- Thread, solder, glue, and assemble piping systems and perform plumbing-related tasks.
- Perform cement and concrete work, including forming, mixing, pouring, and finishing.
- Conduct routine service and basic repairs on facility equipment.
- Support multiple facility projects throughout the workday as priorities shift.
Coordination & Communication
- Communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Provide direction to employees from various departments assisting with facility projects.
- Maintain courteous and professional interactions with workforce personnel, military members, government representatives, and the public.
- Ensure all work complies with Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security policies.
Compliance & Professional Conduct
- Demonstrate ethical behavior and promote company values at all times.
- Identify and report potential compliance, safety, and contractual concerns early.
- Complete required training within designated timeframes.
- Perform additional facility-related duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Trade school or hands-on work experience in at least two building trades.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to perform a variety of tasks throughout the day with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to obtain OSHA 10-Hour Card (NAVSEA or approved equivalent).
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Must be available to work all assigned shifts.
Physical Requirements
- May be exposed to fumes, irritants, laser light, toxic chemicals, and electrical hazards.
- Ability to move throughout the facility and yard frequently.
- Ability to ascend and descend stairs, ladders, and ramps, including aboard ships.
- Ability to lift and move 40 lbs or more.
- Exposure to varying environments, temperatures, and industrial conditions.
- Ability to observe and work around operating machinery safely.
