Supervises staff, manages budgets and contractors, ensures safety compliance, and coordinates projects with campus partners and external organizations to support BMFL’s research and educational mission.Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience:Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 5 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree and 10 years experience or high school diploma and 14 years experience in facilities management or in a diversified building or maintenance activity (e.g. general contracting).Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Knowledge of document processing, spreadsheets and databases, HTML, CSS, PHP and content management systems.Ability to tow and back a trailer.Knowledge of marine culture systems, including plumbing, pumps, filtration, and lighting.Job Duty:Serves as the primary point of contact for all facilities concerns at BMFL, including off-hour emergencies. Supervises and coordinates the facilities team of two tradesmen and one custodian. Oversees facilities and vehicle management at BMFL to include, but not limited to, prioritization of repairs/construction/maintenance, ensuring activities remain within budgetary constraints and consistently comply with workplace safety standards.Essential Function:YesPercentage of Time:30Job Duty:Monitors conditions and creates and prioritizes projects in coordination with the BMFL Director, the campus facilities office, maintenance staff, and independent contractors. Oversees and coordinates all BMFL construction, groundskeeping, repairs, preventative maintenance, storm preparation, storm recovery, and insurance claims. Serve as liaison with main campus (Columbia) staff in Facilities, the College of Arts and Sciences, and Enterprise Risk Management & Insurance via phone, text, google suite, web-conferencing, email, and standard word processing software.Essential Function:YesPercentage of Time:30Job Duty:Manages work performed at BMFL and coordinates all external contractors for efficient, cost-effective, and safe work on-site at BMFL while minimizing the impacts of these activities on research and education operations.
