Facility Maintenance Lead at Specific Systems
JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Maintenance & Facilities Lead
Status: Hourly / Full-Time
Reports to: Plant Manager / Operations Manager
Position Summary
The Maintenance & Facilities Lead is responsible for ensuring the operational readiness of all production equipment and the physical plant. This role balances hands-on technical repair with high-level facility management, including preventative maintenance (PM) scheduling, vendor management, and safety compliance. You will be the primary point of contact for keeping our fabrication, laser, paint, and assembly lines running at peak efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
1. Equipment Maintenance & Repair
- Fabrication & Heavy Machinery: Perform troubleshooting and minor repairs on hydraulic/mechanical fabrication presses and laser cutting systems.
- Powder Paint Line: Maintain and repair powder coating booths, ovens, and conveyor systems to ensure consistent finish quality.
- Assembly Support: Provide rapid-response repair for manual and pneumatic assembly tools (drills, basic hand tools).
- Preventative Maintenance: Develop, implement, and track a PM program to minimize unplanned downtime across all departments.
2. Facility Management
- Building Systems: Oversee the upkeep of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and compressed air systems.
- Vendor Management: Source and manage outside contractors for specialized repairs, fire inspections, and facility upgrades.
- Inventory Control: Maintain an organized inventory of critical spare parts and maintenance supplies to ensure quick turnaround on repairs.
3. Leadership & Safety
- Operational Oversight: Serve as the technical lead for maintenance, coordinating work orders and prioritizing tasks based on production needs.
- Compliance: Ensure all equipment and facility practices meet OSHA standards and local building codes.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve machine uptime, reduce energy costs, and enhance workstation ergonomics.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 1-2 years in a lead or supervisory capacity.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Basic industrial electrical troubleshooting skills (480V/3-phase preferred).
- Familiarity with laser cutting technology and powder coat lines is highly preferred.
- Facilities Knowledge: Proven experience managing general building maintenance and working with external trades/vendors.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and stand/walk for extended periods in a controlled environment.
