We welcome applications from scholars in all areas of Science, particularly in Astronomy, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Physics, or Neuroscience. We seek candidates who will enhance our existing strengths especially in the areas of Cancer biology, Infectious Disease, Translational Neuroscience, Quantum Science, Energy Storage, or Radiochemistry. The successful candidate will be expected to provide visionary leadership, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in their field. The McNulty Chair will have the vision and experience to act as a mentor and model for undergraduate researchers in the McNulty Scholars. The McNulty Chair will also actively work to develop and maintain a deep and lasting relationship with the John P. and Anne Welsh McNulty Foundation.Reporting to the Chair of the appropriate department, the successful candidate will be expected to build on their existing:Track-record for high-quality scholarship by supporting a robust, externally funded research program while mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.Acknowledged status for excellence in teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level.Demonstrable record of mentoring, including women interested in Science.QUALIFICATIONSFor Associate or Full Professor:Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSStrong history of and potential for securing external research fundingDemonstrated reputation for vision and leadership in their fieldEvidence of effective teaching or potential for excellence in teachingAbility to contribute to the relevant department's collegial and collaborative environmentThe appointment rank will be determined based on prior experience and breadth of scholarly achievements.COMPENSATIONCUNY offers faculty a competitive compensation and benefits package covering health insurance, pension and retirement benefits, paid parental leave, and savings programs. We also provide mentoring and support for research, scholarship, and publication as part of our commitment to ongoing faculty professional development.The salary range is $113,982 to $129,041 (Associate Professor) and $131,440 to $155,388 (Full Professor).CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases.
