Job Summary Under the supervision of the Art Gallery Coordinator, the Art Gallery Apprentice supports the daily operations and programming of the Peacock Gallery and the walking gallery tour in Macon. This hands-on position offers students the opportunity to gain professional experience in gallery management, curatorial practices, art handling, and public engagement. Ideal for students interested in art, design, museum studies, or arts administration. Responsibilities Assist with installation and deinstallation of exhibitions, including handling artwork and preparing gallery spaces (hanging artwork, changing lighting, patching & painting walls, cleaning, setting up for receptions, etc.) Support curatorial research, exhibition planning, and label creationHelp plan and staff gallery events, receptions, artist talks, and educational programsMaintain cleanliness and organization of gallery space and storage areasAssist with social media and marketing efforts to promote exhibitions and events (designing promotional materials for gallery shows, the art program, and hanging flyers around campus, etc.) Document exhibitions and events through photography and written summariesPerform administrative tasks as needed (data entry, inventory, filing, etc.)Required Qualifications Minimum GPA of 2.0 Be currently enrolled at Middle Georgia State University for at least 6 credit hoursStudents must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress.Hours for the job are variable but may include Fridays and Saturdays when exhibits are being installed or taken down due to the artist¿s schedule.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Enrolled as a student at MGA, preferably in Art, History, or related fieldInterest in visual arts, art history, arts administration, or related fieldsStrong communication, organization, and time-management skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamWillingness to learn art handling and gallery practicesReliability and professionalism in meeting commitmentsFamiliarity with digital workflows and file management best practicesExperience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or other design toolsExperience with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook)USG Core Values The University System of Georgia is comprised of our 26 institutions of higher education and learning as well as the System Office.
