Job Description

The Peer Recovery Coach provides support guidance and encouragement to individuals recovering from substance use or mental health challenges. The student will assist others in navigating recovery resources supports clients in setting personal goals and help them develop effective coping strategies. Interns will be placed at the House of Ruth facility in Connersville Indiana for on-site work at the direction of the organizations Executive Director.Responsibilities Facilitating group and individual recovery sessions.Offering emotional support on an ongoing basis.Assisting clients with access to community services and resources.Promoting a recovery-oriented supportive environment.This role requiresStrong interpersonal and communication skills.High levels of empathy and compassion.A commitment to helping others achieve well-being and sustained recovery.QualificationsCurrently enrolled as an Ivy Tech Community College student.Eligible for Federal Work Study funding.Completed FAFSA on file demonstrating financial need.Maintain a minimum of 6 credit hours of enrollment in eligible coursesMaintain an aid-eligible Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) statusExcellent communication and interpersonal skills - compassion and strong relationship-building ability with regard to others and representatives of partner organizations alike.A positive and proactive attitudeIvy Tech Community College is an accredited equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
