We are a true farm-to-table company with an integrated portfolio including food processing and food brands phosphate mining fertilizer manufacturing farming ranching and cattle production and other enterprises related to agriculture.Summary Assists in the care and treatment of feedlot cattle by performing the following duties.Essential Duties and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.Monitors cattle by riding the feedlot pens on horseback to identify sick injured or stressed animals; removes the sick or injured cattle from pens to be medically treated.Assists with the receiving unloading sorting and processing of cattle as assigned by the Feedlot and/or Cattle Manager.Assists in the medical treatment of sick or injured cattle by following an established medical-treatment plan provided by the Staff Veterinarian.Moves cattle from pen to pen as instructed by the Cattle Manager and/or Lead Cowboy to rotate cattle according to production schedules.Trains shoes feeds and medically treats horses to provide healthy productive animals.Other duties may be assigned.Qualifications The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Education and/or Experience High school diploma GED or equivalent (Preferred but not required)Knowledgeable in the areas of animal health and cattle conditions generally acquired with a minimum of two to five years related experience and/or trainingPrior experience working with cattle in one or more of the cattle production segments (cow-calf stocker cattle feeding) is preferredLanguage Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions short correspondence and memos.Ability to write simple correspondence.Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers clients and other employees of the organization.Mathematical Skills Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s.Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement volume and distance.Reasoning Ability Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.Additional Requirements Adequate horsemanship skillsMust be able to saddle and ride a horse.Must provide own tack.Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
