Were looking for detail-oriented, driven individualsfrom trainees to assistant consultantsto join us as Engineering Design Consultants and help transform connectivity.SummaryAs an Engineering Design Consultant at Fibersmith, youll play a vital role in designing, maintaining, and optimizing fiber and wireless networks. Youll work with a collaborative team to collect and analyze data, generate detailed project reports, and ensure that our network designs consistently meet the highest standards. This position offers the chance to grow your career in a rapidly expanding field while directly contributing to broader broadband access across the country.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesNetwork Design & OptimizationDevelop new fiber and wireless construction designs.Refine existing designs to balance cost-effectiveness and performance.Enter and update features, data, and connections in GIS software.Project Coordination & DocumentationPrepare, generate, and update reports on project status and plant records.Maintain files, designs, and drawings in Fibersmiths document management system.Adhere to all Fibersmith standards, as outlined in employee training.Assist with Bills of Materials, Engineering Change Notices, or similar documentation.Field Support & Data CollectionGenerate field maps for use during staking and inspection.Gather data on points of interestsuch as poles, foreign utilities, or other infrastructureto inform design.Travel up to 1015% for site visits, industry events, and more.Collaboration & Continuous ImprovementWork within a team environment, collaborating with consultants and senior consultants.Remain adaptable to shifting priorities and requirements.Keep up with the latest industry trends, products, and technologies.Provide ideas for process improvements and network enhancements.General SupportOther duties as required to support project success.Required SkillsAccuracy & Attention to DetailYou consistently deliver precise work and spot errors that others might miss.Technical ProficiencyYou are comfortable using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Planner, etc.) and eager to learn new software tools (GIS, CAD, Arc, SQL, etc.).Adaptability & MultitaskingYou can easily switch between tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.Initiative & DriveYou bring energy and a can-do attitude to your work, ready to grow with the company.Required QualificationsProficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and related applicationsStrong organizational and communication skillsBonus PointsPrevious experience or strong interest in GISFamiliarity with CAD, Arc, or SQLUnderstanding of Bills of Materials, Engineering Change Notices, or similar documentationStrong communication and collaboration skills for working with both customers and vendorsDemonstrated experience balancing budgets and conducting cost analysisA background or coursework in engineering, mapping, or related fieldsReady to Make a Real Impact?Apply now and help us bring high-speed internet to more communities.
