Fiber Technician - Blythewood, SC - $16-$35/hr DOE at Outsource

Job DescriptionJob DescriptionWe are hiring Fiber Technicians to support commercial and infrastructure projects in the Blythewood and Columbia metro area. Work involves installing, routing, terminating, and troubleshooting fiber optic and low-voltage cabling systems across commercial environments. Both experienced technicians and motivated cable techs with some fiber exposure are encouraged to apply. Must have some form of fiber experience to be considered. Responsibilities• Pull, route, and dress fiber and CAT5e/CAT6/CAT6A cabling in commercial facilities• Terminate fiber using LC/SC connectors; polish, crimp, and prep fiber ends• Perform fusion splicing, mechanical splicing, and continuity/performance testing• Use OTDR, light source, and power meters for verification and troubleshooting• Install cable support systems including ladder racks, j-hooks, basket trays, and enclosures• Build out telecom rooms: racks, patch panels, trays, hardware, strain-relief, labeling• Follow BICSI, EIA/TIA, and NEC standards for quality and compliance• Read basic line diagrams, pathway drawings, and site plans Qualifications• 1+ year of fiber or structured cabling experience preferred (commercial environment)• Proficiency with basic fiber tools: snips, punch downs, etc• Experience with single-mode and/or multi-mode fiber• Ability to work on ladders and lifts in active construction environments• Reliable transportation, PPE, and basic low-voltage tools (punchdown, snips, drill)• Splicing experience strongly preferred but not required for motivated technicians Compensation & Benefits• Competitive pay: $16–$35/hr Depending on Experience• Weekly pay• Medical, Dental, Vision, and 401(k) participation available• Referral bonuses up to $250 for successful placements• Consistent, local work with opportunities for advancement About the WorkProjects are primarily commercial construction, renovations, technology upgrades, and fiber expansions throughout Blythewood, Columbia, Lexington, Irmo, Cayce, and West Columbia.
