Clearance Requirement: Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance Travel Requirements: 25% Location: Norfolk, VA SUMMARY: WR has an opportunity for a Field Representative, Lead – Ships Navigation Aircraft Alignment System (SNAIAS) Manual Development. This is an exciting and highly technical role supporting the Navigation Systems In-Service Engineering Activity (ISEA). The selected candidate will perform SNAIAS manual development, Aircraft Inertial Alignment System (AIAS) repair, ILS support, and Field Change upgrades on U.S. Navy ships. Position responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following: Update SNAIAS manuals using ship installation drawings and technical manuals. Verify manual updates onboard ships and provide red-lined versions to the Technical Documentation Department. Provide expertise in resolving Navigation system interface issues with other shipboard systems and assist in developing and updating required documentation and procedures. Travel to sponsor locations as a technical representative; conduct field tests, interpret results, and serve as a liaison with government, industrial, and other stakeholders. Prepare status, progress, and final reports summarizing field experiments and inspection results. Light-off, configure, test, troubleshoot, and operate primary systems and peripheral equipment in support of project activities. Verify functionality of newly installed equipment and evaluate system performance under operational conditions. Continuously develop skills related to emerging Navigation technologies and systems. Seek improvements to test procedures and processes to enhance efficiency, safety, and quality. Provide oversight and on-the-job training to junior technicians. Provide technical input to Project Managers for proposals and Statements of Work (SOWs). Candidates must possess the following knowledge, skills, and experience: High school diploma or GED. Formal electronics training from a technical school, Class A or B military electronics or communications school, or a four-year electronics apprentice program. Formal electronics training, including:Installation tasks Soldering Cable dressing Cable tray Conduit Making/repairing connectors Four (4) years of practical experience, including:Electronics repair Maintenance and checkout Two (2) years of experience providing technical guidance to junior technicians. One (1) year of practical experience in electronics installation. Knowledge and experience with installation and operation of AN/WSN-7 & 7B, CDU, VMS (ECDIS-N), EM Log, DEML, DHSYL, NAVSSI, and other related shipboard Combat Systems equipment. Exceptional attention to detail, coordination skills, and the ability to brief senior shipboard personnel on status, requirements, and issues. Experience managing installations of electronic TempAlts, OrdAlts, and ShipAlts, including estimating, tracking, reporting, and directing. Preferred: Demonstrated management/leadership experience supporting testing and evaluation of navigation systems. Note: Experience may be concurrent.
