Field Service Engineer IILocationUS-SC-North CharlestonID2025-10409CategoryField Service EngineerPosition TypeRegular Full-TimeApplication Open Date8/21/2025DescriptionWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Outside Plant (OSP) Fiber Optic Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of hands-on experience in fiber optic installation, splicing, testing, and maintenance within outside plant environments. A strong understanding of fiber optic theory and in-depth knowledge of fiber optic test and verification equipment is essential. BICSI certifications are required.Performing fiber optic cable installation, splicing, terminations, and testing in aerial, underground and Data Center environmentsOperating, maintaining, and interpreting results from optical test equipment including OTDRs, light source/power meters, and fiber inspection scopesConducting site surveys, document field conditions, and providing input for design and engineering teamsInterpreting and working from engineering prints, schematics, and splice diagramsTroubleshooting fiber optic systems and perform emergency restoration work when necessaryMaintaining detailed records of work performed, including test results and cable routingEnsuring compliance with safety protocols and industry standardsCollaborating with project managers, engineers, and other field personnel to ensure timely completion of workFILLING THIS POSITION IS CONTINGENT UPON FUNDING#LI-JC1RequirementsTS/SCI clearance5+ years of experience in outside plant fiber optic installation and maintenanceBICSI certified technician (such as Installer 2, Technician, or OSP Specialist)Expert knowledge of fiber optic theory, including attenuation, dispersion, connector types, and fiber types (SM/MM)Proven experience using and interpreting results from Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer (OTDR), power meter/light source, and fiber inspection toolsStrong attention to detailAbility to work independently or as part of a teamExcellent documentation and communication skillsDesired SkillsExperience with GIS mapping or fiber management softwareKnowledge of construction permitting and right-of-way proceduresExperience working in federal or secure environmentsClearance InformationSRC IS A CONTRACTOR FOR THE U.S. GOVERNMENT.
