Job Description

The Field Service Technician is responsible for providing best-in-class service and support for TARGANs broiler hatchery customers. This position should possess the skills necessary to maintain repair test diagnose troubleshoot and debug electro-mechanical chick sexing vaccination and other integrated automated systems. Primary responsibilities for this position include maintenance and emergency repairs on all TARGAN installed equipment at the customer location. The FST I must be able to use his or her outstanding mechanical skills as well as solid communication skills to work closely with customer supervisors production employees and technicians on complex problems and assume responsibilities for continued customer satisfaction. Work assignments will require adherence to a standardized installation preventative maintenance and equipment update programs for assigned customers while being able to identify and resolve unanticipated system issues in a timely manner when they occur. This position requires frequent travel to customer sites to assist with installation servicing and repair of TARGAN vaccination equipment and related sub-systems.Key Job Responsibilities:Perform routine/scheduled preventive maintenance on all assigned TARGAN systemsProvide electrical/mechanical support and perform emergency repairs as neededRequired participation in territory after-hours holiday and weekend support as neededEnsure the Targeted Vaccine Delivery System (TVDS) standardized operations and processes are followed and adhered to in assigned territoryImplement and manage the TARGAN end-user training program for all customer employees responsible for working with installed systemsSupport and conduct the execution of the TARGAN system evaluation and performance programResponsible for system and service-related communications within assigned customer hatcheriesPrinciple for collecting and completing all relevant TARGAN reporting forms and procedures including scheduling visits system maintenance and troubleshooting outcomes customer site contacts on-site parts usage and inventory customer training and certification program and vehicle and equipment maintenance within assigned timeProvide input and support to TARGAN Engineering and Bio Research teamsOther duties as assigned based on business needsKey Competencies & Skills:Effective communication and customer service skills are necessary to interact directly with multiple levels of customer personnel and internal TARGAN team membersProven mechanical aptitude and strong troubleshooting ability The ability to look at an entire process and determine the source of the problem/issueAbility to understand and follow blueprints machine drawings and electrical & pneumatic drawings and schematicsMaster the use of a variety of common power and hand toolsExceptional critical thinking problem-solving judgment and initiativeStrong organizational skillsSelf-motivator and self-starterAbility to learn produce and submit accurate service and expense reports promptlyProficient in the use of a laptop computer tablet and related softwareQualifications:Associate degree in Electro/Mechanical Systems or related curriculum and/or a bachelors degree in poultry science or related field from an accredited institution1-5 years of related experienceMust be able to work safely and efficiently and follow all safety/precautionary proceduresMust possess a valid drivers license and a clean motor vehicle recordWorking Conditions:The majority of work is done in a commercial poultry hatchery where exposure to a potentially hazardous environment is possibleHeat and humidity above average are commonAvailable for on-call/after-hours work beyond a standard 40-hour work week to respond to customer emergency calls (via telephone video and face-to-face)Lift more than 50 poundsDaily travel up to 100% of the time but less than 50% overnight travelOccasional travel to TARGAN headquarters in Raleigh North Carolina for trainingAll the above duties and responsibilities are essential job functions for which reasonable accommodation will be made.
