Security Sensitive Position?:YesHours of Work:8:00 AM - 5:00 PM M-FPosting Number:TSU203597Official TSU Title:Financial Aid Loan Repayment OfficerGrant Title:n/aJob Description Summary / TWC Summary:The Financial Aid Loan Repayment Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing Initiatives that support student loan repayment, default prevention, and financial literacy for current students and alumni. This position ensures institutional compliance with federal and state regulations, while promoting financial wellness and long-term repayment success among borrowers.Essential Duties Summary:Monitor and analyze Institutional student loan portfolios, Including cohort default rates (CDR), delinquency trends, and repayment patterns.Serve as the primary contact for borrowers regarding repayment options, deferments, forbearances, loan forgiveness, and consolidation.Conduct proactive outreach to students at risk of delinquency or default, providing personalized repayment counseling and guidance.Develop and deliver financial literacy programming, workshops, and digital resources for students and families.Collaborate with federal loan services, state agencies, and external partners to support borrower success and ensure accurate communication of repayment policies.Maintain accurate documentation of borrower communications, interventions, and outcomes.Provide training and support for financial aid staff on loan repayment processes and compliance requirements.Assist with preparing federal, state, and Institutional reports related to loan repayment and default management.Stay current with changes in federal and state regulations related to Title IV student loans, default prevention, and borrower support programs.% FTE:1.0Hiring Range:$45,486.69-$57,995.53Education:Required:Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Higher Education Administration, or related field.Preferred:Master’s degree in Higher Education, Finance, or related field.Required Licensing/Certification:None Required.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of:Policies, procedures, practices and regulations.Requires full/complete knowledge in multiple disciplines and serves as an ultimate subject matter expert In at least one discipline or function.Demonstrates full command of technical and functional principles, procedures, and subject matter in multiple disciplines to handle any situation and lead or train others.Requires the ability to lead the development or modification of work procedures across multiple disciplines.Microsoft Office Professional or similar applications.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and student information systems (e.g., Banner, PeopleSoft).Skill In:Effective customer service.Problem-solving and decision-making.Strong management.Multitasking and time management.Coordinating the work of others.Planning activities.Leading projects.Both verbal and written communication.Ability to:Prepare detailed reports.Work independently.Communicate effectively.Ability to maintain the security or Integrity of critical Infrastructure, which may Include communications systems, computer networks and systems, cybersecurity systems, electrical grid, hazardous waste treatment or water treatment system.Ability to analyze data and develop targeted strategies for student loan repayment and default prevention.Work Experience:Required:Minimum 2-3 years of experience in financial aid, loan servicing, or higher education administration.Strong knowledge of federal student aid regulations, Title IV loan programs, and repayment options.Excellent communication, counseling, and Interpersonal skills.Preferred:Experience with default prevention Initiatives or financial literacy programming.Familiar with financial wellness platforms, loan repayment calculators, and predictive analytics tools.Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) preferred.Working/Environmental Conditions:Limited standing and/or walking.Handling light weight objects.Using or carrying equipment.Stop, bend or 11ft.UA EEO Statement:It is the policy of Texas Southern University to provide a work environment that is free from discrimination for all persons regardless of race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, individuals with disability, sexual orientation, or protected veteran status in its programs, activities, admissions or employment policies.
