Job Description
Job Title:Fine Arts Director Primary Purpose:Direct and manage the districts fine arts department. Ensure that the development and delivery of the fine arts curriculum and instructional program is effective and efficient incorporates district goals and supports student achievement.Qualifications:Education/Certification:Masters degree in education administration preferredValid Teaching CertificateSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Knowledge of fine arts programsAbility to interpret data and evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectivenessAbility to manage budget and personnelAbility to implement policy and proceduresStrong communication public relations and interpersonal skillsExperience:5years experience as a classroom teacherMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Instructional and Program ManagementOversee the development and delivery of fine arts programs that incorporate district goals and support student achievement.Monitor and reevaluate fine arts programs on an ongoing basis using input from teachers and principals applied research and student data to determine effectiveness and improve outcomes. Recommend changes and adjustments to the program where appropriate to meet student needs.Encourage and support student performances exhibits and other displays of student work.Ensure that the necessary time resources materials and technology to support accomplishment of educational goals are available.Participate in the district-level decision-making process to establish and review the districts goals and objectives related to instructional programs.Engage instructional staff in evaluating and selecting instructional tools and materials to meet student learning needs.Actively support the efforts of others to achieve district goals and objectives and campus performance objectives (academic excellence indicators).Plan and provide staff development for fine arts teachers that supports instructional programs incorporates input from teachers and principals and is consistent with the districts mission.Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and assistance to fine arts teachers to facilitate instructional improvement and innovation. Participate in implementing the designated teacher appraisal system.Policy Reports and LawImplement the policies established by federal and state law State Board of Education rule and local board policy.Compile maintain and file all reports records and other documents as required.BudgetDevelop and administer fine arts department budget based on documented program needs and ensure that operations are cost effective and funds are managed prudently.Personnel ManagementPrepare review and revise job descriptions in fine arts department.Select train evaluate and supervise department secretary and make recommendations relative to assignment retention discipline and dismissal.CommunicationEstablish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with principals teachers staff parents and community members.Support band booster club activities.Supervisory Responsibilities:Supervise evaluate and recommend the hiring and firing of department secretary.Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripheralsPosture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping pushing/pulling and twistingMotion: Repetitive hand motions frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reachingLifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)Environment: Frequent districtwide travel; occasional statewide travelMental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stressRequired Experience:Director Key Skills Experience Working With Students,Classroom Management,Behavior Management,Classroom Experience,Lesson Planning,Special Education,Conflict Management,Teaching,Creative Arts,Digital Art,Experience with Children,Word Processing Employment Type : Full-Time Experience: years Vacancy: 1
