As a Fire Protection Service Technician, you will be responsible for inspecting and servicing sprinkler systems, fire alarms, and special hazard suppression systems. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerforms testing, inspections and repairs to the various types of fire protection systems and equipment Identify deficiencies and/or discrepancies with NFPA standards, and report to service managerManage legible and accurate records of services performed and corrective actions recommended Gain knowledge of, abide by and promote company and customers safety policies Be capable of working with piping systems, equipment and materials used in the fire protection industry Maintain a professional appearance and attitude when working around or directly with the public and/or customersPromote company services to customersOther duties as assigned** Note, the above list is intended to describe the general requirements expected to be performed by the fire service technician. It means judgment about what information is important and what is not, and what should be communicated, how, to whom and when.Education and ExperiencesStarting hourly rate based off education and experience.Preferred Education and Experience – High School diploma, completion of or enrollment in a recognized apprenticeship program, OSHA 30 or 10, and possession of or willingness to obtain the following certifications; sprinkler/standpipe systems, backflow, fire alarm and portable fire extinguishers. Preferred Experience – 3+ years in commercial construction.Working knowledge and/or willingness to learn the use of computers, tablets, and smart phones. Basic skills in Microsoft products is helpful.Physical Demands and Work EnvironmentPerforming the essential functions of this job will require, but are not limited to, the ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, ladders, and negotiate work areas under construction in adverse weather conditions. Work may be performed in ditches and elevated work platforms. Vision abilities required to perform this job included close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to wear approved eye protection. The person must have the ability to hear bells, alarms, whistles etc. Performing this job requires the use of hands to handle or feel objects, tools and/or controls. You will be required to sit, walk, talk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. The individual will be exposed to loud machinery or equipment, fumes, airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. This employee must have the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly and without assistance.Candidates for this position must possess a valid driver license and reliable means of transportation. A 40-hour work week is standard and overtime, when needed, is expected. With prior notification, applicants must be willing to work flexible hours that may include nights and weekends.
