Fitness & Wellness Coordinator - South Hills at Jewish Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh
JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for the provision of fitness and wellness experiences for members through personal training, group exercise programs, new member assessments, monitoring of equipment and floor coverage, and other related programming for the JCC’s South Hills Branch location.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works closely with the Department Director in the development and implementation of short and long-term program goals for fitness and wellness, in keeping with the mission and operating goals of the agency.
- Works in close partnership with key department leadership in developing and managing current and new programs for members of all ages.
- Maintains personal training, assessments, class schedules and class attendance in member management software.
- Manages the fitness floor operations and floor staff.
- Assists with supervision of the Personal Training program, including setting and reaching sales goals, developing budget, hiring, and training part-time staff and scheduling appointments.
- Provides personnel management for personal training, massage, and fitness floor, which includes payroll and scheduling, as needed.
- Provides 35 hours of direct service, including 10 hours of Personal Training to the agency per week.
- May provide additional training & classes outside of regularly scheduled hours.
- Maintains a high level of customer service expectations; promptly handles customer complaints and concerns.
- Assists the Department Director in the development and monitoring of department budgets.
- Maintains Personal Training certification and demonstrates knowledge of weight training techniques and cardiovascular endurance training.
- Ability to instruct clients in fitness and wellness activities.
- Ability to work with a wide variety of clients, including youth, elderly, and at-risk populations.
- Works effectively with other key JCC departments to provide effective and efficient service delivery.
- Ability to define problems, develop solutions, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to manage and balance a variety of responsibilities in a fast-paced environment under tight time constraints.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
While performing the above duties, this position routinely requires handling persons and/or objects and moving safely throughout the building. This position may include walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling. This position requires communicating, either verbally or in writing. This position frequently requires moving items weighing up to 25 pounds. This position occasionally requires moving items weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be able to complete all essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.

Supervision from Division Director
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in physical education, Exercise Science, or related field with at least three years experience working in the fitness/wellness field.
CERTIFICATIONS:
PA Criminal History Clearance
PA Child Abuse Clearance
FBI Clearance
PA Mandated Reporter Training
First Aid/CPR Certification
Personal Training Certification with the American College of Sports Medicine, NASM or the
American Council on Exercise, or equivalent degree
One or more of the following certifications: SilverSneakers, Deka, MOSSA Group Power,
Group Active, Group Centergy, Yoga, or Zumba
