Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPOSITION TITLE: Fitter (Structural & Pipe) JOB CODE: FITRDIVISION: Onshore/Offshore/InternationalREPORTS TO: Foreman/Supervisor/SuperintendentDEPARTMENT: Onshore/Offshore/InternationalPOSITION SUMMARYThe Fitter is responsible for cutting and fitting pipe or structural materials for welders. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES(This is a representative list of the duties the position may be asked to perform and is not intended to be all-inclusive.)Align parts using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars and hammersMark reference points onto floor or face block and transpose them to workpieceGive directions to welder to build up low spots or short pieces with weldStraighten warped or bent parts using sledge, hand torch, straightening press or bulldozerRemove high spots and cut bevels using hand files, portable grinders and cutting torchExamine blueprints and plan sequence of operation, applying knowledge of geometry, effects of heat, weld shrinkage, machining and metal thicknessTack weld fitted parts togetherPosition or tighten braces, jacks, clamps, ropes, bolt straps or bolt parts in position for weldingAssemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings and related equipment according to specifications by welding, brazing, cementing, soldering and threading jointsPut all information on the pipe before cutting and transfer all item numbers onto cut sheet and carry over item numbers to drop pipeEnsure all numbers are clear and point to the right material when fabricating spool sheetsCheck measurements to assure they match with drawing and obtain approval from quality control departmentInspect, examine and test installed systems and pipe lines using pressure gauges, hydrostatic testing, observation or other methodsPlan pipe system layout, installation or repair according to specificationsRead and understand blue prints and ISO’sObey and follow all safety rules and policiesWear all appropriate safety equipment (PPE)Perform all other duties as assigned by manager and/or supervisor MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS High School diploma or equivalent education1+ years of fitting experience in an industrial settingBasic written and verbal skillsMust have the ability to perform work accuratelyMust be reliable and have good time management skillsFor new hires, must meet all Performance Energy Services employment qualifications in force at time of hiring, including successful completion of a background investigation and pre-employment drug screenFor new hires, must successfully complete all required training by Performance Energy ServicesPHYSICAL DEMANDSStand – FrequentlySit – OccasionallyUse Hands – ConstantlyClimb – OccasionallyKneel – FrequentlyLift/Carry over – Frequently (up to 50 lbs.)Vision – Required (Must be able to pass vision exam per appropriate medical requirements)Hearing – Required (Must be able to pass an audio test per OSHA standards) WORKING CONDITIONSWet or Humid (non-weather) – OccasionallyWorking near moving mechanical parts – FrequentlyWorking in high places – OccasionallyExposed to fumes or airborne particles – ConstantlyExposed to toxic or caustic chemicals – OccasionallyOutdoor weather conditions – ConstantlyRisk of electric shock – FrequentlyWork with explosives – NoneRisk of radiation – OccasionallyNoise Level – Very LoudACKNOWLEDGMENT I have reviewed and understand the above job description and believe it to be accurate and complete.
