Location: San Antonio TX2nd Shift Hours: Mon-Sat: 3:30PM-2AMHourly Rate: $21.50/hour shift premiumJob DescriptionSummaryJoin the Johnson Controls team as a Fitter Welder Apprentice at our San Antonio TX plant. This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in the manufacturing industry. You will work under the guidance of experienced professionals while developing essential skills in fit up fabrication and welding.What you will doYou will be responsible for the local delivery and execution of the fit up fabrication and core welding to vendors and managers in accordance with Johnson Controls principles corporate policies and procedures and plant operations. You will perform a variety of employment related functions for the ultimate purpose of enhancing employee engagement safety and health productivity and ensuring employee compliance with Company policies in a manufacturing facility.How you will do itFitter Welder Apprentice will have the ability to apply minimum of 6 months of MIG welding experience into product.Operate Miller Aluma Pro Mig gun. Successfully apply fit up fabricate and weld discipline into standard models.Operate manual and semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding)and Plasma Cutter.Operate manual and semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment.Maintain safe work practices.Conduct technical inspections.Prepare input for various management and log reports.Read and review blueprints and specifications; ensure drawings and specifications will function as designed in environment intended for use.Ensure accuracy and completion of assigned tasks and projects.Keep detailed and accurate reports and documentation.Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology compliance and repair/rework techniques.Complete motor coupling installationsParticipate in training program as trainee/trainer as required.Practice and promote 5S throughout facility.Participate in Kaizen events.Other assigned work as required.What we look forHave successfully passed 2G plate welding test and 6G short arc pipe welding test within Johnson Controls - San AntonioThe use of various hand tools machinery and equipment will be required to manufacture metalStandard blueprint knowledgeThis position will work with supervisors and leadman to ensure continuous improvements in work cells hitting quotas welding according to pre-set parameters using GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) welding processesThe ability to scan in and out of work orders is a mustProven knowledge and skill in operating all metalworking machineryAbility to read and understand production drawings blueprints work orders and other written instructionsRequired:Minimum of 6 months of MIG Alloy and Steel welding experienceFollow Operation Description Sheet (ODS) and Training DocumentsHigh School Diploma GED or certificationsFollow All Safety Policies and ProtocolsQuality OrientationTime ManagementPositivity energetic and wants other to succeedCreative and Innovative ThinkingDevelopment and Continual LearningProblem SolvingAccountability and DependabilityResearch and AnalysisDecision Making and JudgementOperating EquipmentEthics and IntegrityPlanning and OrganizingMathematical ReasoningExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsTeamworkAbility to give and receive feedback effectivelyStrong attention to detailPreferred:Welding technical school certificationGMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) welding experienceTig welding experience(1) years experience as a welderExperience with routine maintenance operationsHighly flexible with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in diverse working environmentsAble to work well under pressureAble to deal with people sensitively tactfully diplomatically and professionally always#LI-Onsite#hourlyjobsJohnson Controls International plc. is an equal employment opportunity and affirmative action employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race color religion sex national origin age protected veteran status genetic information sexual orientation gender identity status as a qualified individual with a disability or any other characteristic protected by law.
