OVERVIEW OF JOBThe Fleet Courier job supports the Fleet Department by transporting vehicles and equipment including radios parts and other equipment for service maintenance and/or repair.PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Provide customer service to city departments by transporting vehicles repair parts supplies and equipmentWash and fuel vehicles/equipment as neededInspect vehicles/equipment for body damage while identifying other potential safety problemsComplete reports and maintain recordsMay handle firearms and/or ammunitionPerforms additional duties as assignedMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONSAn equivalent combination of education training and experience that demonstrates required knowledge skills and abilities may be considered.Education: High School Diploma/GEDExperience: 12 months of manual labor experienceLicenses and Certifications:Valid Drivers LicenseCommercial Drivers License (Preferred)Abilities: Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees all levels of management including executive staff citizens and elected officialsHandle sensitive situation with tact and diplomacyWORKING CONDITIONS Essential Personnel: When a local announcement of emergency or disaster is declared by the City all City of Aurora employees may be required to work as essential personnel.Physical Demands:Medium physical work requiring ability to frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 poundsConsiderable walking and standingFrequent pushing pulling bending reaching and stoopingHand/foot coordination for operation of vehicleVision to read and interpret written informationSpeech communication hearing and listening for communication with employees and residents.Work Environment:Works both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.Equipment Used:Operates motorized vehicles power-washers compressors and other tools as necessary.For Veterans preference: Please show all of your employment history including military service and related documentation (DD214) on the application.
