Job Category:Non-ClassifiedPosition Title:Trades Specialist – Campus Locksmith/ Assistant Manager Motor FleetUnit/Division:Finance and FacilitiesLocation:WVSOM Main Campus, Lewisburg, WVScheduled Hours Per Week:37.5FLSA Status:Non-ExemptJob Description Summary:The Trades Specialist position performs a variety of tasks related to the maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment, primarily with physical security systems (i.e., campus door locks and prox card readers), but may also include assistance with plumbing, electrical work, basic construction and carpentry.. This position also manages and maintains the motor fleet program, and is designated as the institutional motor fleet manager by the West Virginia Motor Fleet Program. This position assists the Assistant Director of Maintenance and the Director of Facilities & Construction with requests as needed.This is a full-time, non-classified position; it is non-exempt from FLSA regulations concerning overtime. Not all activities of this position occur within the confines of an 7:00am-3:30pm schedule and may require evening and weekend scheduling as needed. The weekly schedule for this position will be established between the supervisor and the employee and approved given the needs of the department and the institution. This position has been designated as Essential. This means that when WVSOM is faced with an institutional emergency, employees in such positions may be required to remain at their work location or to report to work to protect, recover and continue operations at WVSOM.This position requires the incumbent to participate in the Medical Monitoring program. West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine is an equal opportunity employer.Minimum Education:Business/ Technical/Vocational SchoolRequired Licenses/Certification:This position requires: Business/technical/vocational school of up to 18 months beyond high school.A valid driver’s license.2 years of experience with commercial grade key locking systems. Multi-trade building experience in plumbing, carpentry, electrical, mechanical maintenance, or HVAC highly desired. Ability to obtain a fork lift operations license as needed.Ability to stoop, bend, crawl, and climb heights over 40 feet; work in inclement weather conditions; work around moving equipment; and lift up to 75 lbs.A combination of recent and relevant education and experience may also be considered for this position. Duties and Responsibilities:General Duties and Responsibilities Security (Prox Cards and Keying System) Coordinate the production of the Prox Card Security keys. . This includes printing cards, and assisting with the purchase of equipment and supplies for long range, daily and emergency situations.Program the key fobs for each specific room, install key core for the fobs, troubleshoot and repair key fobs and key cores as needed. Assists with the Continuum database software system by creating, enabling, and disabling ID Cards for staff, faculty, students, Lewisburg Police, WV State Police, employee spouses, student spouses, Alumni, retirees, and Robert C. Byrd Clinic staff.Updates database with any changes to ensure reporting accuracy.For hard keys, technically serves as a locksmith for the traditional key cores. This includes the use of a recombination tool. Installation of new locks, repairing or replacing broken locks, and performing regular keying services.Coordinates and schedules door repairs when work is outside of the department’s abilities to reasonably repair.Enforces key control policies and manages key inventory.Maintains and distributes keys. Tracks and maintains records of key issuance for employees. HVACAssists with HVAC Systems parts ordering and maintenance for long range, daily and emergency situations. Learn locations of all HVAC equipment that have filters that require to be replaced based on the filter contract. In addition, modify any changes that occur on the current HVAC list (i.e. new construction, remodeling, or any HVAC modifications).Make rounds of all equipment rooms and pull filters confirming filters have been replaced according to the filter contract. Purchase parts for the vendor, and checks in with vendor (currently Mason and Berry) for projects, etc.Motor FleetAlongside the Program Coordinator/Fleet Manager, schedules service and maintenance needs through an outside vendor. This position provides bid specifications and works with Procurement on the purchase/delivery of fleet vehicles in accordance with rules and regulations of WV and the Chancellor of the Motor Fleet Management (ARI Program).Performs a visual check and other safety checks on vehicles weekly, as stated within the WV Fleet Management Program (http://www.fleet.wv.gov)Point of contact for all accidents that occur with the motor fleet program.Other DutiesObtains price quotes for plant grounds equipment (large and small) and door and window repair; purchases equipment as requested, provide bid specifications/quote for maintenance, parts, service, and repairs (typically for motor pool, but may also assist with other trade areas).Assists other trades when needed, including snow removal during campus weather events.Other related duties as assigned or directed. Skills RequiredKnowledge of building trades, methods and practices. Awareness of building codes and requirements.Knowledge of environmental and personal safety measures.Knowledge in automotive and mechanical service, maintenance and repair.Ability to plan, budget, develop bid specifications select appropriate vendors and facilitate purchase agreements.Familiarity with state motor fleet regulations requirements.Training in commercial grade key locking systems.Knowledge of Maintenance Work Order Systems to obtain efficiency of operations, provide preventive maintenance, planning and record keeping.Must demonstrate computer knowledge and skills..Working knowledge of Physical Plant policies.Possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills.Problem solving skills.Judgment and decision making.Time Management Skills.Must be able to operate a vehicle as this position does drive state vehicles.
