Fleet Transactions Consultant

The Fleet Transactions Consultant supports the Fleet Transactions Team by managing all aspects of new aircraft acquisition and aircraft retirement in alignment with Southwest's long-term financial and operational strategy. They'll serve as a trusted advisor to Senior Leaders on aircraft purchases, lease negotiations, and transaction execution. They'll develop and deliver capital expenditure forecasts, lease payment modeling, and technical analysis to support informed, data-driven fleet decisions. The Fleet Transactions Consultant plays a key role in maximizing fleet value and minimizing financial and operational risk through strong analytical insight and strategic partnerships.

Responsibilities include analyzing and reviewing fleet strategy decisions for retirement and lease return requirement implications, representing Southwest Airlines in interactions with Lessors related to technical requests, managing the process to execute new aircraft payments, lease payments, and other financial transactions, developing and maintaining financial forecasts and reporting, ensuring systems used by the Team are properly updated and maintained, representing the Fleet Transactions Team in Airworthiness Directive, Aircraft Maintenance Planning and Engine Planning meetings, identifying and coordinating the provision of appropriate aircraft records and report to aircraft lessors/buyers/consignees, monitoring industry trends and market appraisals to develop insights that support aircraft leasing and disposition strategies, training and assisting other members of the Team in the proper execution/use of processes, procedures, and systems utilized by the department, and performing other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities include knowledge of contractual principles and practices, knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data, skilled in completing analyses on multiple, complex scenarios and to develop and support recommendations to Senior Leadership based on this analysis, skilled in collecting, organizing, visualizing, and assimilating data, including turning raw data into meaningful information, skilled in communication with a variety of settings and with cross functional teams and various position levels, ability to complete complex financial forecasts including Capital Expenditure requirements, ability to successfully manage multiple tasks of varying priorities and ensure all deadlines are met in accordance with the expectations and timelines of project Stakeholders, and ability to work collaboratively with Leaders, other Team Members, and other Departments.

Education required: High School Diploma or GED. Experience: Advanced level experience, seasoned and specialized knowledge in financial analysis, contract negotiation principles and practices, economic principals and accounting practices. Preferred: Commercial experience (contracts, negotiation, etc.), some experience with the technical side of airline operations (records, engineering, etc.)

Physical Abilities include ability to perform work duties from limited space workstation/desk/office area for extended periods of time, ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job, and ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job.

Other Qualifications include being a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986, being at least 18 years of age, maintaining a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards, complying with Company attendance standards, meeting confidentiality expectations, having the flexibility to work extended hours, including weekends, and Company holidays, and being able to travel extensively, domestically and internationally, including multi-day stays.

Pay & Benefits: Competitive market salary from $103,750 - $115,300 per year* depending on qualifications and experience, with opportunity for future pay increases based on performance and market movement.
