FLEX Data Engineer, Infrastructure & Delivery Shared Services at Marriott Hotels Resorts

DescriptionThis is a temporary position.The Data Engineer Infrastructure & Delivery Shared Services is part of the Technology Experience Center chartered with supporting our organizational mission to create exceptional experiences. At Marriott we are transforming the way we manage technology; this position will support the IT Operations team with analytics supplying the team with data and insights to drive the transformation forward. You will design construct and maintain scalable data pipelines data lakes and data warehouses in partnership and in support of our Data Analysts ITSM Practice Owners Service Desk Leaders SRE Leaders and various other departments and product owners across the organization.As a contributing member of the ITSM Service Delivery Data and Analytics team the Data Engineer will partner with ETL and Platform teams to ensure that data within the Enterprise ITSM reporting platform is accurate up-to-date and governed. You will be accountable to ensure data meets the requirements and availability standards defined by the team and documenting the available data and ITSM Metric calculations used to ensure consistency across the ITSM organization. This is a technical engineer role that requires collaboration with multiple Global Technology and Platform teams.Candidate ProfileEducation and ExperienceRequired:Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience/certifications7 years of experience in Information Technology (IT) and/or analytics roles including:5 years of experience in report creation validation data audit and data documentation2 years of experience in Service Now or related ITSM technology Preferred Skills and ExpertiseTechnical:Advanced understanding of ETL pipelines and dataflowsExperience building and optimizing data sets data pipelines and architecturesExperience building processes that support data transformation workload management data structures dependency and metadataExperience building tuning and optimizing data models in both PowerBI & Microsoft FabricAdvanced experience with Microsoft SQL Server and writing T-SQLExperience with Python PySpark or RExperience leading complex data initiatives with multiple stakeholders and end users including both technical and non-technical partners.Experience writing technical documentationExperience defining and implementing ITSM Metric governanceProficiency in data audit and enforcing data standardsExperience defining and implementing data governance processExperience implementing and managing data sharing model for a data platform.Experience with Service Now reporting platformStrong understanding of relational data modelsGeneral:Strong interpersonal written and oral communication skills to interact at all levelsAbility to independently manage technical or process issues providing executive reporting on issue statusExperience interfacing with and influencing business partnersExperience communicating technical material to non-technical business partners to help them interpret data and uncover actionable informationAbility to think creatively systemically holistically and practically to support team members and practice managers Core Work Activities:Work with data platform team and source data owners to mitigate and resolve gaps and inconsistenciesIdentify gaps and inconsistencies within the data platform across multiple core data sourcesSupport Business Application and IT Support Desk activities through data platform regulation and availabilityWork with peers and leadership to propose new opportunities for data strategy and insightWork cross-departmentally to align on data platform needsWork in partnership with other team members on development of data strategy for service groupsExplore new tools and methods to continuously improve the data platform and reporting capabilities of the teamComplete special projects and activities as assignedFunction as a strategic data expert within the departmentProvide direction influence and assistance to other teams and individuals as neededGenerate and provide accurate and timely results in the form of program reports executive presentations etc.Plan develop implement and evaluate the quality of operations property support and technology investmentsProviding Technical Support and Consultation:Provide technical expertise and leadership within own and other teamsProvide recommendations to improve the effectiveness of processes and programsDemonstrate advanced knowledge of job-relevant issues products systems technology and processesDemonstrate advanced knowledge of function-specific conceptsApply knowledge judgment and actions to achieve business goalsForesee identify and resolve problemsKeep up-to-date technically and apply new knowledge to the jobPerform other reasonable duties as required for this position At Marriott International we are dedicated to being an equal opportunity employer welcoming all and providing access to opportunity.
