Job Description
General DescriptionThe Food Service Supervisor serves as a supervisor for the cafeteria staff in a school. Work includes training staff assigning duties and tasks monitoring work ordering food and supplies and completing the necessary records and reports on each food service activity. An employee usually participates in and often performs the cooking preparation or serving duties just like the staff. Work involves organizing and planning skills and the ability to retain knowledge of the rules and regulations of the federally funded child nutrition meal program.Examples of WorkSupervises cafeteria staff in the preparation serving and clean up tasks for meals.Makes work assignments for staff; trains staff in work to be assigned; monitors and disciplines staff as necessary.Substitutes for staff; requests temporary services when employees are absent; completes time sheets and submits payroll informationOrders food and supplies on prescribed schedule; monitors inventory.Follows planned menu and dietary requirementsMaintains all records and reports on food service activities as required by the state and the federal regulations.Ensures that sanitation and health standards for food preparation are met.Checks equipment; calls for repairs; assures safe operation of equipment.Counts monies collected; prepares deposits; secures cafeteria at end of the work day; Performs related duties as required.Knowledge Skills and AbilitiesAbility to learn and retain knowledge of the rules regulations requirements processes and procedures of the federal child nutrition meal programs.Working knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures.Ability to plan organize monitor and evaluate a food service operation.Ability to learn and use computerized Point of Sale SystemAbility to use Microsoft Office application including but not limited to Word Excel Outlook; ability to type general documentsAbility to maintain and compile necessary records and reports using a computer.Ability to interpret and monitor a variety of federal state and local food service guidelines.Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with students faculty administrators and staff.Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written forms ability to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions and guidelinesAbility to communicate with individuals ranging in age from pre-kindergarten to adult and with varying educational levels with superior customer service skills.Ability to perform simple math.Ability to obtain and maintain a valid NC Drivers License and driving recordAbility to lift 35lbs; stand and/or walk for long periods of time during scheduled shiftAbility to travel during work hours to and from locations to conduct business and attend meetings.Desirable Education and ExperienceGraduation from high school and two years of experience in food services with at least one year of food service supervisor experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Pay Grade 60 (Entry) 62 (Upon Completion)-$2838.63 Monthly Salary - Full Time PositionRequired Experience:Manager Key Skills Asset Management,Data Management,Fire,Jboss,Accounts Payable,Application Support Employment Type : Full-Time Experience: years Vacancy: 1
