DepartmentUniversity Advancement FinancePosition SummaryThe Accounting Coordinator (Coordinator) is an essential member of the MSU Denver Foundation team responsible for supporting the accounting and finance responsibilities of the organization. The Coordinator reports directly to the Senior Accountant and assists in all aspects of accounting fixed asset maintenance and campus-wide reporting administrative and other support while maintaining a high level of professionalism in supporting team members campus partners and vendors.Essential DutiesAccounting (65%)Posts and reconciles all contribution revenue from the donor database into the Foundations financial accounting systemInitiates and assists in preparing and entering journal entries to record transactionsAssists the Senior Accountant in preparing and reconciling general ledger accountsAssists the finance team in preparing documents for the annual auditProvides support with annual tax reporting of 1099s and W2G formsCoordinates and manages quarterly Enterprise Zone administrationAssists with Colorado Rockies 50/50 Raffle administration including quarterly reporting 990 filing and other accounting needs as necessaryAssists with accounts payable remote deposits and positive payChecks bank accounts regularly for Automated Clearing House (ACH) transactionsParticipates in the development and implementation of new or revised accounting systems procedures and methods of operationAssists with special accounting and finance projects as neededOther Support (35%)Monitors the Foundation email accounts and ensures that requests are completed organized and/or assigned to othersCoordinates and manages annual multi-state charitable registrationsAssists in maintaining a comprehensive document of key university departments to provide regular FE and Raisers Edge (RE) reportingAssists with grant coordination including acquiring signatures and final documents as well as maintaining proper storage of documents/documentationAssists with UA procurement by creating Special Purchase Orders (SPOs) and Purchase Orders (POs)Assists with approvals and expense reporting for corporate purchasing cardsAssists with monthly maintenance and report distributions out of RE and FE for university partners including discretionary reportsCollects and manages confidentiality agreements related to RE and FE systemsCompletes salary supplement request forms data entry and signature collectionProvides backup support to the Finance team particularly the Senior AccountantSupports the Foundations records retention efforts; ensure that the Foundation complies with its Records Retention PolicyRecords storage and maintenance including physical files and data files within SharePoint and DrivesOversees the storage updates and sharing of Foundation and UA forms/templatesAssistswith the documentation of standard operating procedures and processPerforms other duties as assignedRequired QualificationsBachelors degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience providing accounting and data coordination reporting and support (one year of education is equal to two years of experience)Experience using accounting softwareCRM database experienceAbility to work independently to solve complex problems and be a resource for colleagues in the departmentExcellent customer service people and verbal and written communication skillsSelf-starter and solutions-orientedAttention to detail and good time managementStrong skills in Microsoft Office (Word Excel Outlook and PowerPoint)Experience working in collaboration with othersPreferred Qualifications:Bachelors degree in Business or AccountingExperience with Blackbaud software (Financial Edge Raisers Edge) or similar fundraising softwareExperience using Workday or similar financial and human capital management systemsExperience working for an institution of higher educationMust have a hands on approach to all tasks required to be completedWe encourage you to apply even if you do not meet every preferred qualification. This range takes into account a variety of factors including but not limited to experience skills knowledge abilities education licensure and certifications analysis of internal equity and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position.
