Founding Lead Engineer at Dreamhq

Dreamhq No longer available

Job Description

We are looking for a founding engineer who can lead as we scale - someone who is excited to be both in the code and setting the technical direction of the company. This is a hands on role where you'll take on the most important engineering challenges yourself, while also making foundational architecture decisions, shaping our technical roadmap, and building a high performance engineering culture from the ground up. You'll collaborate closely with the founders and early team to define how our systems scale, how we ship fast without breaking, and how we build a world class product that redefines architecture and construction planning.

Upcoming Challenges
  • Establish engineering culture and team norms that emphasize quality, velocity, and ownership
  • Own architecture and infrastructure decisions, setting the technical foundation for scalability, performance, and rapid product iteration.
  • Define technical priorities and lead by example, writing production grade code and driving execution on the most critical product initiatives.
  • Unblock engineers and coordinate across the stack, ensuring smooth collaboration, clear interfaces, and timely delivery of product milestones.
  • Mentor and grow the team, promoting engineering excellence through thoughtful code review, technical guidance, and a strong sense of craft.
What we Require
  • 5+ years hands on experience building production products and systems
  • 2+ years direct experience leading engineering direction on a team (architecture, technical direction, driving towards high quality, fast execution), with or without a formal title
  • Strong full stack engineering skills, Proficient in TypeScript, React, modern web development, as well as backend systems design and implementation.
  • Ability to make foundational technical decisions and ensure code quality, scalability and speed remain high as the product and team grow.
  • Experienced with CI/CD, developer tooling, and infrastructure - you're excited to streamline and supercharge the dev workflow while we build it
  • Willing to operate outside of strict skill sets - this is a small team, and we need people who can flex to what matters most as we grow
