Job Summary
Provides the highest level of safety and security by patrolling assigned areas to deter, detect and investigate crime and/or any suspicious activity that could cause harm to individuals or property; effectively monitors electronic surveillance equipment; effectively monitors hospital emergency systems and can dispatch appropriate personnel via radio.
Essential Key Job Responsibilities
- Patrol assigned areas on foot or by vehicle, providing service and protection.
- Investigate suspicious persons or activity, respond to crimes in progress or that have occurred, disturbances, accidents, public service calls and other miscellaneous incidents.
- Investigate complaints, criminal incidents, suspicious activity and accidents; prepare detailed written incident reports.
- When assigned to dispatch: effectively monitor electronic surveillance equipment to identify suspicious activity and dispatch appropriate personnel; operate base radio station, answer multiple telephone lines, maintain logs of radio communications and telephone requests, and tabulate data to produce required activity reports.
- Provide general information and assistance to patients, visitors and employees, including safety?related escorts as requested to various campus locations.
- Collaborate with department personnel and external agencies to gather and exchange information; promote departmental services.
- Assure proper working order of equipment; notify appropriate personnel regarding repairs or maintenance.
- Intervene as necessary to confront and restrain hostile or abusive persons to reduce the risk of personal injury and minimize operational disruption; maintain self?control in stressful situations.
- Aid the lead in reviewing security documents and related reports.
- Assume shift?lead role in the absence of the lead.
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED.
- One (1) year of experience.
Required Licensure and Certifications
- Non?Commissioned Security Officer grace period: 3 months.
- Texas Drivers License.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through American Heart Association (AHA) grace period: 14 days.

Pay Range
$15.00 $20.54 per hour.
