This is a full-time, hospital-employed position focused on delivering high-quality, patient-centered orthopedic care to the Charles County community.We are looking for a skilled, collaborative surgeon who is passionate about community care and helping grow a sustainable, high-functioning orthopedic service line within a supportive hospital environment. New graduates will not be considered at this time.Principal Responsibilities and TasksGeneral Bread-and-Butter OrthopedicsCall Schedule: 7 days/month OR Time: Flexible based on surgeon's preferences and schedulingSetting: Single clinic site; inpatient rounding exclusively at UM Charles RegionalTools & Support: Hospital willing to support needed equipment (e.g., X-ray machine)Growth Opportunity: Mid-level provider support to be added as volume growsRehabilitation Services: Integrated PT support both inpatient and outpatientCommunity Leadership: Be a vital part of strengthening a key service line for a well-respected community hospitalPrimary Responsibilities:Provide high-quality, efficient, cost-effective, and compassionate care to assigned patientsMaintain complete and timely documentation of all patient services in accordance with established standardsParticipate in quality assurance and improvement programsSupervise administrative responsibilities of non-physician team membersEnsure compliance with hospital policies and procedures, including HR, billing, coding, and training standardsMaintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory guidelines (OSHA, CLIA, labor laws, etc.)Collaborate on budget planning and review practice expendituresUphold the written goals and objectives of UM Charles RegionalPromote a courteous, respectful atmosphere and enhance patient satisfaction and hospital reputationRepresent the practice in the community through speaking engagements, volunteerism, and outreach effortsWork cooperatively with hospital administration to adapt scheduling or practice style as needed to improve patient access and satisfactionEngage in disease management programs and population health efforts to drive better outcomesQualificationsEducation and ExperiencePossesses and maintains current license to practice medicine in the State of Maryland required.  Possesses and maintains current Board Certification within practicing specialty required.Possesses and maintains current DEA or similar Narcotics and Controlled Substances Certification required.Possesses and maintains, if applicable, appropriate clinical privileges at a minimum of one UMMS affiliated acute care facility.Demonstrates meeting minimum CME requirements for licensure and board certification.Demonstrates appropriate qualifications and experience to perform the duties required of this position.2 plus years of experience as an Orthopedic MD.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesHighly effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills to communicate  effectively with all levels hospital staff, patients, visitors, and levels of staff.Additional InformationAdditional InformationAll your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.Pay Range: $400,000- $500,000.Review the 2024-2025 UMMS Benefits GuideLike many employers, UMMS is being targeted by cybercriminals impersonating our recruiters and offering fake job opportunities.
