GE Vernova helps customers power economies and deliver electricity that is vital to health safety security and improved quality of life.Job DescriptionThis internship will be focused on the economic levers required to enable a gas turbine decarbonization project to move forward. Using the most up to date information on gas turbine market pricing and carbon capture OEM plant estimates the goal will be to build a tool that can quickly show the cost trade-offs and benefits of various economic scenarios for project development.What Youll Do:The primary outcome of this assignment is to build an economic modeling tool for gas turbine power plants that can show the various impacts of reducing plant costs the addition of a carbon tax or other financial penalty constructs for releasing carbon emissions or various policy incentives for providing low-carbon/zero-carbon power. This economic model can then be used to support product strategy and government advocacy efforts to articulate what market conditions would need to be required to unlock a decarbonized economy.Primary Skills Developed:At the conclusion of this internship the primary skills developed will be an understanding of the Energy market the various technologies that are available to decarbonize a gas turbine and their economic cost the current market incentives & penalties associated with decarbonization and the key barriers for market success associated with multiple decarbonization pathways.Internship Term Dates: May/June - August 2026Expected Work Schedule: Day/1st -Shift (40 - hours weekly)What Youll Bring (Basic Qualifications):Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering Economics Business Energy Engineering or related field.Minimum GPA 4.0 / 5.0 scale without rounding.Must have the ability to work in the United States for an unlimited amount of time without sponsorshipWhat Will Make You Stand Out:Strong quantitative and analytical skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel PowerPoint Word)Coursework in economics finance energy markets or financial modelingExperience with financial modeling cost-benefit analysis or economic evaluation toolsKnowledge of energy markets carbon pricing mechanisms or environmental policyProficiency in programming languages (Python R MATLAB) or advanced analytical softwareBenefits available to you: Addressing the climate crisis is an urgent global priority and at GE Vernova we take our responsibility seriously.
